I am writing to you, friends, as I have nearly completed a great project. Over the past two months I have gone grubbing county-by-county in New York for election results statistics. I made nearly forty phone calls, sent twelve letters, spent nearly $30 of my own very limited money and spent hundreds of hours banging away on my laptop computer and it's still not done. But it's very close. I have not recieved statistics from only three of New York's counties and have complete statistics from five different elections in over fifty. So I have started to assemble some maps, and will post them here for your viewing pleasure. I will fill in the holes in the maps as I finish up the data collection.

I'm proud to say that I can assemble (nearly complete) maps and data sets from any race in New York from the 2006, 2008 and 2010 general elections, the 2008 presidential primaries and the 2010 primaries, with only a few exceptions. I await your requests.

Sure. I am missing four counties: Lewis, Ontario, Nassau and Suffolk (exorbitant prices!), but the rest looks pretty damn good.

Would the 2010 Comptroller race be at all interesting? It's the closest we've gotten to a 50/50 statewide race in New York recently.

That map is about half complete. I will put some more work into it. So far the only Democratic wins upstate are in the cities (Utica, Syracuse, Albany, Buffalo), in Tompkins County and way up in the North Country. Wilson managed to win Salamanca and Geneseo.

The 2010 Governor's race would be interesting, just to see the divide between the Buffalo area and the rest of the state.

The 2008 D map used Atlas colors. The 2008 R map has red as McCain, green as Romney, and yellow as Huckabee.

Another one that would be fun to see if you have it is the 2002 governor race. If it's going to take you a lot of time and hard worked to get the maps I have requested don't bother with making them.

Time for an update. This map shows the strength of the strongest third party in each town from the 2010 gubernatorial election. It's one of my all-time favorites.

Green: Howie Hawkins (Green Party), who lives in Syracuse.
Yellow: Warren Redlich (Libertarian Party), who lives in Guilderland, which is just outside of Albany.
Blue: Jimmy McMillan (Rent is 2 Damn High Party)
Purple: Kristin Davis (Antiprohibition Party), who was endorsed by the mayor of Watertown.
Red: Charles Barron (Freedom Party), who lives in Brooklyn.
