So, you constantly talk about party unity, then vote for the person who voted against the Party nominee?

Like half of the UDL voted against party nominee.

And the people who are now trying to get this thread to descend into Dramaland again are probably the last ones who ought to open their mouths to talk about 'party unity'. And wait, isn't the problem with the JCP Bgwah's dictatorial rule? Like, you'll get nowhere in the party if you don't vote like Bgwah wants you to,...

The problem is, though, that you actually endorsed the UDL nominee, and then voted against the ticket.  In addition, hypocrites like Hashemite who call for party unity only when they like the nominee.

Okay people, let us think this trough together. I think there are a couple of things we can all agree to:

a) The Party rules for the election of the chairman are stupid/broken, especially when there are so few active members that the only 2 candidates both are in the council already. Whoever gets to be chairman should fix that.
b)I think we can all agree that at least de facto I have won this chairmanship race and that it would be pretty nice if the actual results reflected that. Just saying.
c) We can solve our problem in a number of ways: some of the councillors might consider changing their votes, which I don't think anyone would protest OR Ben could perhaps consider gracefully opting out of the race, especially given the fact that he already has a highranking government job in a non-UDL President's administration, which is both a pretty big accumulation of power and a conflict of interest waiting to happen OR we could have Polnut cast a tie-breaking vote, either in his capacity as the former chairman, and thus I guess a semi-legitimate councillor untill he's replaced, or as the Party President.
Those essentially are the 3 options I see.

Awaiting your reply, Ben. Smiley

Technically, since the successor has not been picked, I would be open to a solution that involves me, but agreed to by both the whole EC AND both candidates.

There's your answer Belgian; Congratulations.  To the UDL, good luck, and enjoy having Zell Miller as Chairman.

Obviously you should have had this take some more time before leaving with a bang, if you really wanted to increase the Dramalevel.

I'm also sort of curious as to how long it'll take before we see Ben, Virginia, RPP. I say 3 months at the very most

I'll take a bet on that.  I say it doesn't happen.

Ben gracious in another defeat. Obviously, he cared about party as long as it could be a vehicle for his political ambitions.

I hope both left parties will finally learn from such experiences, that they can't trust spineless moderate heroes.

Which explains why I left the UDL immediately after losing the primary.  Oh wait, I didn't do that - I endorsed Marokai instead.  I left the UDL because it is obvious the UDL will not work, when people who endorse the Party Nominee and then vote against that Nominee can be elected Chairman, and somehow made to look like the good guy.

But of course nobody cares; it is much more fun to blame me instead.

The problem with the UDL was the begining. It was formed like "ZOMGZ, WE NEED TO RECRUIT AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE...". In the process we forget to think about stuff like structures, some discipline, building some unity, etc. First Senate at-large election, then presidential race is proving that.

I know, I was there. Sad. I'm probably one of the few JCP-ers who actually wish UDL surviving.

Oh, we will survive, that seems pretty clear to me. If only because a substantial part of our membership actually believes in what the UDL should be about. We might have our occasional internal disputes, but I think that people as wildly diverse as myself, Xahar or ilikeverin all really, really want the UDL to succeed.

On another note: can we have another chairmanship vote immediately or do we wait and see if anyone cares to mount a challenge?

Hold on, maybe I should run for chairman. I don't recall there being a requirement in your guidelines that the party chairman actually be a member of the party.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Congratulations Ben, you have been a thorn in the party's side from the beginning till the end.

People, this is our last chance to regain some credibility ; please don't waste it.

I think people like Kalwejt have been more of a thorn in this party's side than Ben. Just sayin'.

Ben graciously dropped out after losing the primary and agreed to be our nominee when Marokai was driven out by incessant drama caused by certain individuals. I don't see how he's been a thorn at all. Even if you think he shouldn't have challenged Marokai, he played by the rules of the primary and fought fairly imho. And I was a supporter of Marokai from the beginning.

What did we do that was so insanely disgusting? Not crown him emperor the moment Marokai dropped out, having a real chairmanship election,....? I really don't understand what all that's supposed to mean.

Anyway let's have another ballot to be over with this:

The Chairman of the Executive Council of the Union of the Democratic Left:

[X] Belgiansocialist
[ ] Giovanni (if he's allowed to run, I'm sure Xahar or someone will know)

When did we crown Ben emperor? I seem to have missed that part. Are you mad that Ben dared to run for President when Marokai dropped out? Are you just mad the party didn't line up behind the JCP after Marokai dropped out, even though certain individuals within the JCP were complicit in creating the conditions that led to him dropping out? I for one think the UDL owes the JCP nothing. Where do your loyalties lie?

Again, UDL biggest mistake was to get as many members as possible, just to be the biggest, instead of having some merits. No use of a party that was filled by an opportunistic, spineless moderate heroes like Ben or former Populares members, like Sbane.

I said at the begining to ba careful with certain recruitment, but Marokai didn't want to listen. Well, here we got the results.
