Romney vs. Obama Election Night 2012 Timeline

So this is my first timeline, so no judgement, but I hope you enjoy it.

Election Night 2012:

Barack Obama/Joe Biden
Mitt Romney/Marco Rubio

7:00:
Polls have just closed in the states of: Vermont, Georgia, Indiana, South Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia. We are able to project three states at this time:
Vermont will go to Pres. Obama as expected, with Kentucky and South Carolina will go to Mitt Romney.

So we're off:
Romney: 17
Obama:   3

7:30:
We have two more states closing at this hour: North Carolina and Ohio, and we're able to project North Carolina for Pres. Obama. This a major victory for the President tonight and puts him on the path towards 270. A surprise upset for Romney who was leading in most polls a few days ago.
For Gov. Romney we can project West Virginia.

7:45:
We are able to project the state of Georgia to Romney as expected, and it appears we can project Indiana for Romney as well.

8:00
We have multiple states closing at this hour and we can project: The District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts and Maine for Pres. Obama.
We can project: Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Tennessee  for Romney.

8:30
The polls in Arkansas have just closed and we can project the state for Romney.

Obama: 90
Romney: 88

9:00
More states have closed and we have more projections: New York, Rhode Island, Minnesota, New Mexico and Wisconsin for Pres. Obama.
We can project the states of: Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, Louisiana for Romney.

9:15
We can project at this hour the state of New Hampshire will go for Pres. Obama: 50.9%-48.1% At this hour both Pres. Obama and Gov. Romney are practically in a dead heat: 154-152, with the states of Michigan, Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Missouri and Pennsylvania being too close to call.

9:35:
It appears at this hour we can project Pennsylvania for Pres. Obama, and Michigan for Romney.

10:00
At this hour we can project: Iowa, for Pres. Obama, and it appears we can project the state of Colorado for him as well. For Romney we can project: Utah and Montana.

10:20:
At this hour we can project the state of Florida for Romney at this point; all credit going to his running mate Marco Rubio in helping to flip this state. Also we can project a winner in Virginia and it will be Pres. Obama.

10:40:
We can project Missouri as well as Arizona for Romney at this hour.

10:55:
At this hour we have a major projection to make; earlier this evening we projected North Carolina for the President, and at this time we are going to have to retract that projection and put North Carolina back into the undecided column. This is the first since 2000 that we've had to make this decision.

Nevada and Ohio are still too close to call, with the President leading by a narrow margin in Nevada and  in Ohio we're they're practically even.

11:00:
More states' polls have closed and we have more winners to project. As expected Romney will carry Idaho, and the President with carry California, Oregon and Hawaii. However we have to put Washington in the undecided column for it is still too close to call.

In the state of North Carolina Romney holds a razor thin lead over Pres. Obama.

R: 48.75%
D: 48.74%

11:20:
We have a projection to make, rather a major projection. Gov. Romney will carry the state of Washington, being the first Republican since Ronald Reagan in 1984 to carry the state.

Gov. Romney is closing in behind Pres. Obama; with three states in the undecided column, this election could down in history as one of the closest; especially if Pres. Obama is reelected.

11:35:
Now, for the second time tonight we can project the state of North Carolina.

D: 266
R: 245

11:50:
Another projection in the state of Nevada. We can project that Romney will carry the state; albeit narrowly, but this will take another state away from Pres. Obama; leaving Ohio to be the deciding the state in who carries the presidency.

12:00:
After a roller-coaster night we finally can project the state of Ohio for Gov. Romney.

R: 50.01%
D: 48.76%

This brings Gov. Romney's electoral vote count to 269 to Pres. Obama's 266. While no candidate has crossed the threshold of 270 yet, we are hearing rumblings from within the Obama campaign that a concession maybe following.

Now, if by some upset Pres. Obama does carry the state of Alaska, then neither candidate will have crossed the 270 threshold for the Presidency, meaning this election to the House of Representatives which at this hour looks be evenly divided among Democrats and Republicans after tonight's results.

12:10:
We've received word that no concessions will be made until the final poll as closed within the hour. Obviously the victory in Ohio for Gov. Romney is significant, but remind our viewer that no candidate has crossed the finish line yet.

1:00:
As you might of expected the polls in Alaska have closed and we are able to project Gov. Romney the winner in that state, and thus The Presidency of The United States.

R: 272: 48.87%
D: 266: 48.56%

Yes. I could see Ohio falling if Obama holds North Carolina, but it would be hard to see Michigan or Nevada go. ...and Washington? What the ?

Washington? This timeline just went over to hilarity.

I can see Nevada falling (it was a Bush state), I can see Michigan falling if they feel that Obama's not doing enough for jobs, but I cannot see Washington, certainly among the most left-wing states in the country, falling for Romney. No way in hell.

Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, Florida and New Hampshire are all Democratic-trending states with the possibility of going to the Republicans. Washington is not.

Maybe a bunch of Idaho and Montana transplants moved into Washington, and made the state significantly more Republican.
