Well, I guess we know now why Republicans are so sure that there is a significant voter fraud problem. Because they are the ones committing the fraud.

Indiana Secretary of State Charlie White indicted, faces 7 felony counts

The state’s top election official will face seven felony counts, including voter fraud, perjury and theft, a special prosecutor said today. Secretary of State Charlie White was accused of intentionally voting in the wrong precinct during the May 2010 primary, a potential felony.

White turned himself in at the Hamilton County Jail Thursday afternoon and was released after posting $10,000 bond. If ultimately convicted of a felony, White would have to give up the position that he won by a wide margin over Democrat Vop Osili in November’s election.

He only voted once, their was no actual fraud involved, and the case is a whole load of bullcrap.

So turnabout is fair play I'd say.

Yeah, it's an obvious BS charge. At least he has a nice booking photo, though. I guess that there's a first time for everything.

This happens all the time.  I have never seen someone prosecuted for it.  Pretty incredible.

He shouldn't, he won't, and he'll be re-elected.

Sorry.  You can't take a salary as a city councilman if you move outside the district.  You no longer represent the interests of the residents of the district who elected you.   And if you move, you need to vote where you moved to, not where you used to live.  Geography matters - you might not be eligible to vote for all of the people on the ballot in the old precinct.

Bolded part - a not-so-good analogy

No one disagrees with the last part.......but that's not enough to put the cuffs on him and toss him out of office.  "Fraud" seems like a ridiculous charge.

It's a crime of stupidity.

This doesn't surpise me. I was very unhappy when the GOP nominated him.

The district in his case is the state of Indiana. He did not move out of Indiana.

No.  One count of the indictment is that he moved out of his city council district when he was a city councilman last decade, yet didn't report it, still served, and still received a salary even though he was no longer eligible to serve as a city councilman from that district.

This guy clearly doesn't belong in his office (considering what his office does) and should resign or be impeached immediately.

Charging him with a felony over something that appeared to be a rather stupid mistake though is kind of ridiculous.
