So that means the Democrats only chances for a Senate pick-up next year are Connecticut (which isn't really a pickup) and maybe Arizona (which I doubt).

Scott Brown, Olympia Snowe are almost unbeatable and Texas is also impossible.

Maybe Bredesen jumps into the race in TN ...

While Heller is a very strong candidate I don't see why the Dems should be counted out just yet of on open seat race in Nevada.

You have no faith in Nevada's Democratic bench? I mean, it's not like they'll be nominating Rory Reid. Or hopefully not Dina Titus...

In a presidential year, Heller is definitely beatable.

It's also kind of ridiculous to call Scott Brown unbeatable.

Besides after last time I wouldn't trust the GOP to nominate Heller over Angle or someone like her.

Retirements always come in pairs....

...I was waiting on someone to follow Akaka.

I wanted to see Dina Titus win this seat, but I doubt she'll be able to win statewide against Heller. At least she'll probably get a House seat with redistricting.

If the NV GOP is smart, it won't be an open seat. Ensign will resign in a couple weeks and Heller will be nominated for the vacancy.

Heller definitely isn't unstoppable. In a Presidential year, he has to contend with strong Democratic turnout in Clark, which keeps it close. It also depends on how well he gets crossover votes.

Yeah, before annointing Heller unstoppable let's see how he fares in the primary.
Let's not forget that he almost lost in 2006 to non other than Sharron Angle and that teabaggers were furious with him last year when he warned that if Reid was defeated then Nevada would lose a lot of clout in the senate.

Of course, but he will get a bit of an edge, because I don't think some Nevada voters want two Dem Senators, particularly as is probable, the GOP takes control of the Senate. Yes, I know, most voters don't think that way, but in a potentially close contest that this one might be, it could be the critical difference.

What about her?  She was in for sure against Ensign, has the biggest campaign account of the bunch (I think), and is now probably a "maybe" against Heller.

I'm not convinced Dean Heller should be considered strongly favored to win a Nevada GOP primary against whatever noname opponent that's unelectable in the general ends up getting some traction. Tongue
