He's got terrible fans, but he's a FF for the most part.

Don't have much time for him, but wouldn't call him a HP per se. Neutral, I guess.

I agree that his fans are generally terrible.

I'd vote for him over well over at least 95% of Republicans. His fans tend to be even more annoying than most Republicans though.

One thing I'll give him credit for is that at least when he accuses Obama of socialism or big government or whatever he at least isn't a giant hypocrite who wants their own socialism and massive spending and big government like almost all Republicans.

He's a doctor. By definition, that means he's accumulated a fortune by billing the government. HP

All doctors are horrible people?

Only ones that self-righteously rail against government spending. It's one thing to live on government money. It's quite another to moan endlessly about spending at the same time.

He refuses to accept Medicare or any type of government funds as payment, though if a patient can't pay any other way he'll often do the service for a reduced fee or free.

He's a member of congress and still has time for his day job? Wow.

The fact that he's not really a libertarian is the only positive thing I can really say about him, at least politically.

What do you mean? He's the only one who can save us from the Federal Reserve and Zionism!

(That was a joke)

But seriously, how is he not a libertarian?

Well, he's crazy and different, for one.  As a result, he has some very good crazy ideas (ending American militarism, stopping the war or drugs, and so on) and some very bad crazy ideas (return to the gold standard, among others).

On balance, I find him to be more palatable than most other politicians.  I'd take him over Obama.

He's won my grudging respect for his ideological consistency over 40 years and a voting record that matches his stated ideals. These days he'd also be what we call a "conservative intellectual", although that is mainly a reflection on state of conservatism than because his ideas are terribly original.

He's clearly an FF. An FF who's crazy and should probably not be in power...but still an FF.

I'm not a fan of his fanboys at all.  But despite my obvious differences of opinion with Ron Paul, if I had to choose FF or HP, I'd lean slightly FF.  His son on the other hand...

Still, I don't mind him being a congressman.  Just keep him from the presidency and the senate Tongue

I do not doubt the Congressman from Texas is sincere in his beliefs. However, I sharply disagree with some of his Libertarian/Isolationist  stance. Should we leave the UN, like Paul would like us to do, the action would be the equivalent of handing to keys of the asylum to the inmates.

Now if I had a choose between him and Barack Obama, I would vote for Paul. Still, because of Paul's stance on the UN, NATO, and the "American Empire" frightens me.
