Could only see these three options.  I say Pawlenty.

To specify, I mean the Caucuses.

I think Barbour could be 2012's Huckabee.

Ditto, if Palin or Huck runs, one of them.

"As of now" no one in Iowa knows who the Huck Pawlenty or Barbour are, so Romney would win unless Huckabee runs (he wins) or Palin runs (toss-up).  If the economy turns South, I think Huckabee will run and win Iowa, if it stays about where it is, I like Romney's chances, if there's clear recovery in the next 10 months, maybe a jump ball between Bachmann and Pawlenty.  We might get a better sense in the rest of this month how a budget impasse and/or shutdown will affect the primaries.

NOTA

I think you are all under estimating Gingrich. Not my favorite candidate of course, but he has been building the base of a strong ground game in Iowa as long as he has been playing the "I may or may not run" game.

Gingrich is my favorite candidate but he, like McCain and others before him, doesn't fit in well with who Iowa usually gives the victory to.

Huckabee. If he doesn't run, Palin. Though if he doesn't run it'll be a tight race between Palin and Gingrich.

I completely agree with this.  Barbour has a very strong chance of getting the evangelicals.

Inpossible to even make a reasonable guess without knowing who's running. The early states are always won by somwbody with about a third of the vote. It's all about who's taking what numbers. That said, the Iowa GOP has a large Chritian conserative element. I'd go with the Huckster.
