Good evening and welcome to election night 2012...tonight there are numerous senate races and the presidential election that will be reported here...lets not waste any time with some projections...at the presidential desk...

7:00 Judd Gregg caries Kentucky and South Carolina. Barack Obama caries Vermont and Virgnia.
Gregg: 17
Obama: 16

And in the senate...

7:00: Lugar wins in Indiana and Sanders wins in Vermont

No pickups in that batch...republicans need a net gain of seven to retake the senate.

Wolf Blitzer: We have to go to 8:00 presidential and senatorial projections...but before we do...quickly Virgnia Mary Matlin...

Mary Matlin: Ok, if this projection stands, then it is bad news for republicans. This is probably the first time since 1940 that Virgnia has been called this early. For the
 first time in seventy-two years Virgnia gets called for the democrat as the polls closed there.

James Carville: Yes, this is very good news for Obama and the democrats.

Wolf Blitzer:...is it over for the republicans...

James Carville: No because they can win without Virgnia...there is still Ohio that is too close to call...however Florida, Colorado, and Nevada are also states to watch.

Lets go to the 8:00 projections right now...Barack Obama carries Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachussetts, and New Jersey. Judd Gregg, at this hour, carries Albama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

About Vicki Kennedy defeating Scott Brown: she's already announced that she won't run, and I doubt she'll change her mind at this point. Maybe Edward Kennedy III would be a better choice if you intend to use someone from the Kennedy clan in your TL.

8:50:Judd Gregg carries South Dakota.

Wolf Blitzer: Mary, quick assesment...

Mary Matlin: Its still anyone's game...good news for the Gregg camp is that they lead narrowly in Ohio and by about five points in Florida...that is only with about a fourth of the precients reporting in those two states...good news for the Obama camp is that they won Virgnia early as the polls closed, they are still competetive in Ohio and Florida...and the west is still yet to come...

James Carville: All of that to say, it is still anyones game...republicans can win without Virgnia...they have to carry Florida and Ohio...really no way around that...however carrying Virgnia early and holding the lead is a very positive sign for the democrats...
