Poor people are extremely unlikely to vote.

That said, the few that do vote are more likely to vote Democrat.

iosip, the state of West Virginia. The state of West Virginia, iosip.

i'm from very close to west virginia...it is only the "exurban" (rich) types who vote gop. they tend to be the kids of energy execs and such.

the people who do the actual WORK are all democratic.

Your own posts show that the truth is most likely just the opposite.  "I don't know any" and "the people who do the actual WORK are all democratic" doesn't mean they aren't out there (or you are simply chosing to ignore their existance).

While it is true that the poor do tend to vote democratic and the wealthy vote republican, it isn't a carved-in-stone rule.  You can be poor and disagree with a lot of what the democrats stand for just as easily as being wealthy and disagreeing with the republicans.

However, they do say ignorance is bliss.  If that is where you wish to reside, then by all means don't let me disturb your own personal status quo.

Poor urbanites vote Democrat.
Poor 'ruralites' vote Republican.
It just so happens that there are more poor people in the cities.

Similarly rich urbanites are much more likely to vote Democrat than rich people in the suburbs or rural regions. Look at LA, SF and NY.

The split is definately more urban/rural than rich/poor

I think you've got it backwards.

The real divide is rich/poor. It just so happens that poor people tend to live in cities a lot more, making cities Democratic.

While not in the urban and densely populated cities, suburbanites are basically "part of the city," and should be considered so. The suburbs aren't completely different regions, they are low density extentions of the cities.

And rural areas are not rich.

Why should they be considered part of the city? They're not.

Rural areas are not rich, and no one said they are. There are plenty of rich people in the cities, but the majority of people in the cities are still lower class.

So are the great majority of the people in rural areas.
