"Part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich"?  How many other presidential candidates would put it so bluntly?

This may sound like a nitpick, but what Trump said is not the same thing as what the title says. I seriously doubt Trump would actually commit to spending more than a small amount of money on his joke campaign. He's just bragging about how he's rich and it gets him attention.

" I mean, part of the beauty of me is that I'm very rich."

Priceless.

I believe he is testing the waters for his campaign slogan.

Maybe he can beat Meg Whitman's record for most money spent on a failed campaign. I don't think in these economics times that most voters want a candidate that flaunts their wealth.

You know, in all honesty, the Donald does have one big advantage: he's basically scandal-proof.  He's been caught doing so much crazy s**t over the years.  The press will just dump all of it on him when he gets in, but any attempt to bring it up later will result in, "So?  Old news, yawn."

The problem is Trump's favorable ratings today are comically bad, even worse than Palin's. How does he rehabilitate that?

OK, changed the thread title.

Does Trump actually have $600 million of his own to spend?  His personality driven cult/ponzi scheme has more than once been driven to the brink of bankruptcy, and includes a good bit of real estate that likely has a higher book value than he's be able to get for selling it.  I'm doubtful he could raise that kind of cash for a political campaign.

Right now, his campaign is no more credible than those of Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, or Bob Backlund.

I don't think Trump is very liquid.  He has a lot of real estate, but can't really sell at a time like this.  He also has money from personal appearances and his tv show, but I don't think he'll use that for a campaign.  I also think a lot of his money is tied up in his corporations.  It will be interesting to see if he has to actually has to disclose his finances if he were to run for president.  It might be worse given some problems with the AC casinos.
