Translation: Merkel was on a campaign flight with a helicopter, when at 1600 meters height all 2 engines of the helicopter failed. The helicopter took a more than 1000 meter plunge and pilots were able to re-start engines "a couple hundred meters" above ground. A few seconds later, the helicopter would have crashed to the ground.

Interesting. Nothing about this being reported on the radio or TV (yet).

"Almost" means that it is a non-event.

The search for a successor would have been interesting though, since Guttenberg isn't "available" right now. Tongue  Probably Ursula von der Leyen, I suppose.  Unless the state chairmen could rally enough support against yet another "liberal" protestant woman.

According to SPIEGEL ONLINE, Merkel wasn't even on the helicopter when it *almost* crashed.

It was her helicopter though. Tongue

There's a prequel.
