The original gerrymanderer, Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, is your first choice for elimination.  Our 5th Vice President was the first who did not attempt to run for President.  He barely lived long enough to have his name immortalize for all time.

Thomas Pinckney, the man who would have been our 2nd Vice President were it not for the machinations of Alexander Hamilton, is one-half of the only pair of brothers in this contest.  his brother, Charles Coatsworth Pinckney is part of the Libra tribe and might get the chance to avenge his brother.

Results:

You have decided to lay down the law on Miami University almunus Whitelaw Reid, giving him 11 votes, thereby making him the first to be eliminated.  This Liberal Republican supported Horace Greeley in 1872, and was the Republican Vice Presidential nominee in 1892.

We have our second tie of this survivor with both William Groesbeck and William Taft receiving 8 votes.  Both have only their starting safety points, but Taft has 4 while Groesbeck has only 1.  Thus at the cost of 1 safety point, Taft will survive to become a member of the Spring tribe while Goesbeck will be eliminated.

This round was not a good one for Miami University, as William Goesbeck is also an alumnus of that school.  This Democrat, who helped with the defense at Andrew Johnson's impeachment trial, received some votes at 1872 DNC convention and after Horace Greeley's death, 1 vote for President from a Missouri elector.
