There are 204 persons who have received Electoral Votes in U.S. Presidential Elections.  This contest will select who among them is worthy of being the survivor. Rules are explained in full in the organization thread.

To begin with there are twelve tribes of seventeen members each.  The tribes are named after Zodiac signs, but people have been placed into them randomly, and not because of their birth sign. The first three tribes to vote will be the Aries, Taurus, and Gemini tribes. After 5 rounds, the Aries, Taurus, and Gemini tribes will be merged into the Spring tribe.  The Spring tribe will later merge with the Autumn tribe to form the Equinox tribe which will later merge with the Solstice tribe to form the final tribe.

Each survivor begins with a number of safety points and can gain safety points during the contest,  Safety points are used as the first tiebreaker if there is a tie.  The members of the Gemini tribe are, along with their safety points and the elections in which they won electoral college votes are:

Thomas Bramlette [1 safety point, VP (1872)]
James Buchanan [2 safety points, P (1856)] eliminated ROUND 1
Calvin Coolidge [3 safety points, P (1924), VP (1920)]
William Crawford [2 safety points, P (1824)]

John Edwards [3 safety points, P (2004), VP (2004)] eliminated ROUND 2
Gerald R. Ford [2 safety points, P (1976)] eliminated ROUND 2
Winfield Hancock [2 safety points, P (1880)] eliminated ROUND 5

Hiram Johnson [1 safety point, VP (1912)]
Frank Knox [1 safety point, VP (1936)] eliminated ROUND 4
Willie Magnum [2 safety points, P (1836)] eliminated ROUND 1
Charles McNary [1 safety point, VP (1940)] eliminated ROUND 5
William Miller [1 safety point, VP (1964)] eliminated ROUND 3

Alton Parker [2 safety points, P (1904)]
Horatio Seymour [2 safety points, P (1868)]
R. Sargent Shriver [1 safety point, VP (1972)]

Allen Thurman [1 safety point, VP (1888)] eliminated ROUND 3
Henry Wilson [1 safety point, VP (1872)] eliminated ROUND 4

Voting:
Cast 10 eliminate votes as you wish between one to four people, save that you cannot give two people the same number of eliminate votes.

Cast 3 keep votes as you wish between one or two people.

Give one person a safety point, but you cannot give a safety point to someone in the same round you give them a keep vote.

Also, since this is the first round of a new tribe, cast one vote for immunity.

This round will be open for at least 24 hours.

Votes:
41 Buchanan E(6+7+5+5+8+10)
4 Edwards E(4+1+3+2) K(3+3)
1 Ford E(1)
-1 Hancock K(1)
-3 Knox E(2) K(2+3)
2 Johnson (2)
4 Magnum E(4)
-2 Seymour K(2)
-4 Shriver K(3+1)

Safety:
1 Fnord
1 Hancock
3 Johnson
1 McNary

Immunity:
3 Shriver
2 Johnson

Results:
Sargent Shriver is the sole winner of immunity, but with only a 1 vote margin it will only be good for the next round.

The only surprise about who gets eliminated first is that James Buchanan, the man who proved that the States could not secede from the Union, but that the Federal government couldn't do anything about it, did not get all 60 eliminate votes cast in this round.

We get a chance to test out the safety point system in the first round as we have a tie for second place between two North Carolina Senators, John "The $600 Haircut" Edwards and Willie "Who needs the popular vote, when you've got South Carolina" Magnum.  With two safety points for Willie and three for Edwards, Edwards wins the tiebreaker, but loses two safety points to see that Willie Magnum is eliminated.

Votes:
17 Edwards E(6+8+2+4) K(3)
8 Ford E(2+9) K(1+1+1)
3 Hancock E(6) K(3)
0 Johnson E(4) K(2+2)
6 Knox E(6) K(2)
1 Miller E(1)

Safety:
1 Hancock
3 Knox
1 Seymour

Results:
John Edwards, the most recent person to have received electoral votes for both President and Vice President did not have a chance to see if he could recover from being in a tiebreaker last round,, as he took an early lead in the voting and never relinquished it.  The man of Two Americas proved also to be a man of Two Rounds.

Alas, this Eagle Scout, the only one to have been President, was not prepared for the final vote that saw him eliminated despite receiving keep votes from a majority of those voting in this round. Gerald Ford is also eliminated in this round.
