Yes, absolutely. It seems like 30 today is equivalent to like 22 in the 90s.

That is due to the new poverty, not the internet.

Younger generations look like retards to me compared to my own, so it might be a cause of the internets. Of course it could just be my "old reactionary" mentality. Tongue

Good afternoon, Mr. Naso.

The difference is I consider this a positive development.

Why?

Because "immature" things like going to hardcore shows and hipster bars and keg parties are more fun than "mature" things.

I truly dread the day I will become an old, but thankfully in modern day society that day is not only 3 years away!

None of that is inherently immature. Opebo is right though it's sort of hard to move out and start a family by early/mid 20s like people used to when rent/cost of everything is skyrocketing and every job outside of wal mart tells you that you're 'overqualified' if you have a degree that wasn't found on a cereal box... Assuming they even hire someone that speaks english.

I guess the internet and 'texting' has made people more socially retarded but I don't imagine that'll continue.

Just like the elementary kids looked so young compared to when you were in elementary school or how the middle school kids looked so young and acted immature compared to how you acted and how high schoolers look so young and immature now...

99% of it is just your perspective.  1% is probably grounded in later maturation.. but that is mostly due, as Opebo said, to lack of job opportunities for young people.

You boys think this is kindergarten city eh?  If so, perhaps you may underestimate your peers or those a bit younger. I find the bulk of such guys (this place does seem to bore women to tears doesn't it?) who may be arguable somewhere in a neighborhood adjacent over time "educable," and I find over time a process of growth in general (and that gives me great pleasure!).  Why? Because we have some fantastic posters here from whom to learn, and ponder their thoughts, and process those in our own little brains, with our own values and aesthetic preferences, and a priori assumptions that we all, yes all, bring to the table.

And we all know who those posters are, and who they aren't, don't we?  Tongue

Yeah, for some reason women tend to not like threads about prostitutes, strip clubs and '90s pop punk/-CORE when not discussing how counties voted in 1942 or "what kind of bitch makes you stop." I don't know why, I find that charming myself. Although given who makes those sorts of quality threads, I don't think age has much to do with it.

LOL, one of the members of Ampere is female.

And those other topics come up plenty of times in other forums that have plenty of female members. Flyers is one guy who doesn't post all that much and just about every forum has someone like him (unfortunately).

The fact is simple: Women don't like discussing how counties voted in 1942. Acting like hordes of females want to post here to discuss what the black population of OH-11 will be post-redistricting but are scared off by relatively mild sexism (seriously, girls post at 4chan) is beyond stupid.

Why thank you Zach, that's completely relevant to my point. Your insight is appreciated as usual.

There are actually women interested in politics, maybe not necessarily the minutia of election results or cartography but they're out there. Although considering the amount of threads on rape, 'thai girls,' breasts/dick size, strippers and the charming insights of certain people here I'm sure they'd feel very welcome by the forum if they just gave it a chance!

I don't think it has much to do with the internet, but with the increasing lifespan of the humans and the change in lifestyles.

A couple hundred years ago, people would die with about 40-50 years, so what we refer to "youth" today, was about 10-15 years old about 200 years ago and after 15 years you were an adult and basically on your own, especially if your parents then suddenly died with 40-50 years.

Today, "youth" can be considered up to 30 years old.
