For the record, I am working with Senator HappyWarrior on a comprehensive bill dealing with Libya, which hopefully will be finished soon.

Is that offered as an amendment? Tongue

But anyway, I believe that we should be supporting the no-fly zone.

Now there is an idea! Tongue

JK, of course. I agree with RowanBraxton on the "No Fly Zone", which was outlined in my address given last week.

Unless we have defined "means", "assistance" and "Libyan people", this bill is just an empty slogan, potentially dangerous.

so you have any idea when? because I don't see much point in considering this bill if something more specific is about to be proposed.

Yeah, I mean we could always add a ton of amendments to this as a stop-gap measure until the aforementioned bill is introduced, but if it's not going to take too long...

<Takes GM's hat off>

Smells and sounds like the Gulf of Toinkin Resolution in its completely open-ended mandate.

Tmthforu may not be LBJ, but still......

If there are no reasonable amendments soon, that would spare us from the dangers Badger rightly mentioned, I'll push motion to table.

Also, I'd rather wait to see a detailed project, provided by the SoEA and HW.

I thought of that too, as we just discussed it in history. Though it might be Gulf of Tonkin, not Toinken. Wink

Regardless of Tmthforu himself, I don't want a precedent of giving President, no matter who holds the office at the moment, any sort of unchecked power. PERIOD.

Doesn't the amended version have to atleast be somewhat similar to the original bill, though?

This should be tabled.

Problem is, that we won't be able to do anything due to a very lenghty amending process (and possibly nasty fight) for a days, so it would be better to wait for SoEA.

Well it depends. Mostly on what mood I am in. Tongue But bills have been completely changed at times.

Bacon King once pointed how technically we can just remove a bill from the floor if the sponsor withdraws it, which I had done previously. Instead 72 hours must be given for another Senator to potentially assume sponsorship.

So it may be that tabling is the quicker approach.
