Yes, I think you could. You are a moderate, and a hawk, so if the Republicans ran a moderate and the Democrats ran an extreme liberal dove, you'd probably go Republican.

I think practicaly any member of a party can throw their support behind anohter party's candidate.

I did just last election when I supported a Democrat for Sheriff (former Davenport Mayor Phil Yerrington). I also supported a Democrat for State Senate (a small business owner named Frank Guard, who stood no chance of winning)
