When I look at that last map I wonder how in the world did I loose Nebraska?...I guess that is an example of spending too much time in swing states and getting over confident about the base...in the end I lost almost every swing state too except for Wisconsin...

I went from loosing by double digits to suddenly winning by double digits in this race. It was a great victory. Final opinion poll had me with 52% and my opponent with 33%. Like I said, a great victory. In the last like two or three weeks, my opponent won the endorsment of the last special interest group still yet to endorse and that probably kept me under 500 electoral votes. It also secured a lot of the new england states for the democrats.

I'm playing the Democratic campaign and can't f#($(@($ing beat George Washington. I've come very close (had Ohio or Florida swung in my direction, I would have won. Any advice? I feel like he's always raising more money than me no matter how hard I try.

running against Hubert Humphrey/Mario Cuomo democratic ticket. A republican female from New York was the republican running mate One note, I spent 6.1 million dollars in the state of Pennsylvania alone and still lost it. Many of the northeast states were close even though they all went democrat.

After some trouble in the campaign, I pulled away and narrowly defeated Bill Clinton. Oregon, one of the last states to report, but me over the top. Ads saying that Clinton supported outsourcing jobs helped make the difference in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Freedom of speech ads helped in Florida. Some signs of the trouble had are apparant in still loosing Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia. An interesting development, despite loosing all surrounding states, I did carry Clinton's home state of Arkansas.

Despite being behind by seven percentage points, and only spending just shy of eleven million dollars compared to Clinton spending almost thirty-five million dollars, I narrowly won for the election. This victory made up for trouble in other campaigns with Clinton.

a relatively easy win over George McGovern

Porter: 275        Wallace: 263        270 needed to win

an interesting race against former Alabama governor and failed real life presidential candidate George Wallace. The campaign had a few interesting twists. One of which was how close the race became in the final week, despite a five point lead for the republican over governor Wallace. Porter won despite loosing all four major states (Texas, Florida, New York, and California). The latter two were expected, while Texas and Florida were too close to call going into election day. And in a final twist, this race was recognized as an African American was placed on the republican ticket opposing a ticket whose head is a former segregationist governor serving in the deep south during the civil rights movement.

Again a Porter vs Wallace race. Texas, Illinois, Ohio, and Pennsylvania turned the electoral vote victory into a bigger one for the republican. Even though George Wallace won the nationwide popular vote by four million votes (74.6 million to 78.3 million). Again the same African American was placed on the republican ticket as a candidate for vice president opposing a ticket whose head is a former segregationist governor. Perhaps the home base of the governor shows again in the south. Wallace carried Florida and Georgia, as Porter carried Alabama, the home state of the democratic nominee. George Wallace had John Edwards, former North Carolina senator, as his running mate even though Porter ended up easily carrying North Carolina. The east always comes in first. The key to look for as a hint for what is to come is to see if candidate Porter carries any of the eastern states and in this case he did. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New Hampshire. This proved to make an accurate prediction, as Porter went on to a sizable electoral victory nationwide well surpassing the 270 electoral votes needed to win.

Brief Analysis compared to first Porter vs Clinton election:
Clinton vote totals collapse in most of deep south and rocky mountain west, as well as plaine states. A female from the east coast being on the republican ticket as a candidate for vice president clearly had an affect. Porter won despite loosing Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri, three states that were thought to have been carried considering such a comfortable national margin of victory. In the end, a forty-two state sweep was something for the republican to be happy about, especially against such a distingusihed and popular opponent.
