Republicans don't like him because he broke his "no new taxes" pledge, and consider him a "mediocre caretaker" of Reagan's legacy.

Democrats don't like him because he was Reagan's Vice President, attack dog on the campaign trail, a top Reagan policy adviser as VP and his Presidency was more or less a slightly more moderate continuation of Reagan's policies, even though he didn't appeal to conservatives like Reagan did and he broke that cardinal rule of conservative Republicans-raising taxes-after vowing repeatedly NOT to. And people in general don't like him because his family is seen as the epitome of dynasty politics.

Rather than being a polarizing figure like his son, he seems to have been disliked on all sides, though he never received as much intense dislike as his son did.

"Moderate" GOPhers seem to like him, IIRC Lincoln Chafee says he wrote him in in '04.

I like him, not politically, because he was a "do-nothing" President. He's a good man though.

He's the best president of my lifetime. Granted, he was president when I was born, but still.

I disliked him for his unwillingness to throw Atwater under the bus, but aside from that he was a pretty decent president.

If I had to say whether I like or dislike him, I'd say overall I like him.
However, there are goods and bads to him. He was politically ambitous (though you can't fault that in terms of Presidents-every President from Kennedy to Obama, with the possible exception of Ford, was ambitous), he flip-flopped on abortion (in my opinion to the correct side, but that just shows how he was willing to say he beleived anything for the Vice-Presidency), and he wen tback on his "no new taxes" pledge. However, I still see him as a good man who was impassioned about things such as freeing the Kuwaitis, and had he been President at some other time could have been extremely accomplished in terms of foreign policy.

He's profoundly overrated because he looks great compared to his son. Witness all the red avatars here proclaiming their love for him.

I like him.  His presidency wasn't the greatest, but he was merely a place holder between the Reagan and Clinton eras.  His son will be considered by historians a pretty good president as well, one who knew how to get things accomplished.  His dad lacked that strength of leadership and so does his successor.

I grade the 41st President of the United States as a C+ in office, but an A to A+ personally.

^While I believe Dubya will be vindicated, I doubt he'll be concidered as good as his father.

I sure as hell don't like him. Was he the best post-Ford Republican President? Sure but that's hardly much of an accomplishment.

Haha, that's like saying that Stalin was the best leader of a country that invaded Poland in 1939.

that exemplified education during the Bush Sr. Administration (trust me, I was alive). Now ask yourself, do you really learn anything in school today? There's no innovation, creativity, and meaning. Just get that 'A' for your transcript, make some connections, and land a job.

Bill Nye The Science Guy didn't start airing until Clinton was in office. That show was awesome of course.

Yeah, I associate that with the Clinton years, although I would watch it in class during the Bush years.

Actually, Xahar, I think reds who like him believe he's a good man, so much so that even though they might have disagreed with some/much of what he did, those things can be somewhat overlooked.

I agree with that.
