Collaborative World Presidents
«
on:
April 17, 2011, 10:04:30 pm »
Following World War I, the world's super powers agree to form a one world government. However, it would only cover the nations that agreed to joint the League of Nations (feel free to add more as we go along).
The first presidential elections will be in 1920. At the time of the first elections, the World Government's jurisdictions will cover the following countries:
Argentina, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, the British Empire (including the UK, Canada, Australia, India, Bangladesh, Burma, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, China (including Taiwan), Colombia, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, El Salvador, France, Greece, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Italy, Japan, Liberia, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Persia (Iran), Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Siam (Thailand), Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay, Venezuela, Yugoslavia.
Also, remember all of the colonies covered by the above counties, include all of the British Empire, French colonies (so all of Africa, save Ethiopia), and parts of the Middle East (Yemen, the Gulf States, Transjordan, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Kuwait), also Korea & Indochina.
Elections will be every 4 years. Please include Vice Presidents.

Willing to reach more balanced relations with Germany, Baldwin decides to drop Poincaré, but doesn't want to appear to be too germanophile and picks Tomas Masaryk, another respected great figure, intended to please the US and to set a stronger basis in the young Central European states.
The ticket easily prevails in this reconstruction period.
1920 : Stanley Baldwin / Raymond Poincaré
1924 : Stanley Baldwin / Tomas Masaryk

You guys have forgotten to add countries along the way. Neither Germany nor the US had joined, but I guess we'll have to assume they have had at this point

Guys, Baldwin wasn't that prominent figure in 1920. In fact, when he became later Prime Minister, it's only because Lord Curzon was glued to his seat in the Lords.

Having outweighed the more bellicist Ramsay MacDonald and Edouard Daladier in a hard-fought primary, Hansson and Torcuato de Alvear cruise to the general election, as the failures of Vargas and the remaining economic crisis favour a center-left victory.

With more and more tense relations against Germany, Italy and Japan, foreign policies quickly become the main theme of the debates, outweighing the administration's economic successes. The proponents of the "though line" win in 1944 and shortly after, war breaks up with the axis.

After the end of WW2, the Cold War pushes the communist areas out of the "World".
The Azaña/Chifley administration is perceived as weak and wasteful in front of new threats.
And the "World" is more... global now.
Chiang Kaï-Shek was first considered by Ike, but viewed as now too bellicose and corrupt; his hour is over. Inönü emerged as a way to represent countries from the South while still taking things under control...

The Kubitschek presidency is a mess and the tickets with Americans (Nixon and LBJ) are outrageous for many southern peoples, so the new rally, Patriots of the World, succeeds in grasping power.
But Nehru dies almost immediately and the VP turned president is forced to pick another bigwig from the South.

After 8 years of power, the De Gaulle administrations appears old and out of touch with the society's recent evolutions. A renewed left quickly emerges and in 1972, lead to Trudeau's victory over De Gaulle.
