on a slow news week, we had:
 - the locking of the BushOK Update thread
 - the JCrew thread (locked)
 - Joe's PC homosexual = n word thread (still opened)
 - (add your own)

for me, the weirdest moment was:

what the heck happened to all the good looking black girls over the last 15 years?!
They got old...You could just hang out at your daughter's school...

no,no,no...I'm talking about the new recruits, or the lack there of.  The simple but unsolvable problem, Big A, is that black girls have changed their style.  They no longer try to fit in like they did in the hip hop days.  They all forgot the lessons of Prince (or is it HeWhoCantBePronounced?), who taught them how to dress and how to look.

followed within minutes by:

FYI, 3 black girls just walked into my house from my daughters school...will have to continue this conversation later

yeah, but admit it, you enjoyed it, didn't you!  lolol...

Flintstones. Meet the Flintstones.
They're the modern stone age family.
From the town of Bedrock,
They're a page right out of history.

Let's ride with the family down the street.
Through the courtesy of Fred's two feet.

When you're with the Flintstones
you'll have a yabba dabba doo time.
A dabba doo time.
You'll have a gay old time.

I'm sensing this week might have tipped jmfcst into another of his cycles...

Edit: Apparently I'm correct, if his post in the overly banal Starbucks thread is any indication:

Duh, I am familiar with the concept. Smiley

I've just witnessed so many occasions where your crazy train has come off the tracks every couple of months, that I can already see the signs of an impending relapse.

Clearly one of the worst since I've been here. The BushOK Update thread was the only reason to visit the forum. Now, we see thread after thread lamenting its death. And so it goes..

Now see, the locking of that piece of garbage was why it was a great week.

Some people think the Tin Man is gayer than the Lion.

By the way, Oz was on TBS last night.  I caught it starting at about 45 minutes in, so I missed the bit with Professor marvel on the farm, and also the initial meeting of Dorothy and Straw Man.  I have mixed feelings about the color.  At first it's jarring, but on the other hand I now finally understand the horse of a different color scene.  Anyway, the weirdest commercial came on.  It was for Denny's restaurant, and they're having a celebration called Baconalia.  Apparently now, and for a limited time, you can actually get a bacon sundae at Denny's.  Yes, gentlemen, you read that right, a Bacon Sundae!

Bacon, maple syrup, and soft-serve ice cream all in the same cup.  Mmmmm.

Oh, and Dazed and Confused is an "iconic, American movie."  That was for you, baby.  Just the way you like it.  I don't get no respect any more.

I've never truly been able to grasp why people hate that thread. It never effected those who didn't read it, and brought immense joy to those of us who did. There were no externalities in this case, except for BRTD's polls. I think he'd be willing to agree to stop it if the thread would be reopened.

Yes, if this was the week in which that thread was killed, then it was one of the worst on record.  Of course the beginning of the 'moderator' censorship campaign complete with death-points was the worst.

But yes, jmfcst has a point, this week was pretty depressing and awful.

I agree with Duke and opebo. Hopefully the moderators soon realize the errors of their ways, unlock BushOK's thread, and resign in disgrace.

The honorable thing would be to delete their accounts, of course.  But a Forum Nuremberg would be far more cathartic.

The week in question is just like any other week on the forum.

This week however is starting very crappy because people are acting like children on this forum.

i messed up the wording of the poll.  i meant to poll the joys of chaos, not frustration at the moderators

I actually voted "top 10%."  I rather enjoy chaos.  And thematically it was one of the more festive weeks we have had in a long time.

This week seems to be shaping up to have a more disturbing theme.

yeah, i had a great time, and it only cost me 19 infraction points, but I'll be reimbursed within 90 days.  it's really fun when a flame war surprises you and just seems to appear out of the left field...then again, all flame wars seem to appear out of left field.
