This article is so idiotic that I don't know where to begin.  72% are white?  That's actually slightly less than the overall voting population, if we take the 2008 exit poll at face value.  And certainly less white than the racial mix for McCain voters.  34% are 55 or older?  Well, again, that's about the same as the exit poll for all voters, and actually probably younger than the average McCain voter.  This group of defectors is apparently neither more white nor older than the average McCain voter, yet the article is titled "McCain voters defecting to Obama are older white males".  55% are male?  OK, that's more than the average ratio for McCain voters, but not by a huge margin.  And the margin of error is going to be big, because this is a small sample of all the people polled.

Sheesh.  Reuters fails Math 101.
