A lot of Republicans claim Texas was stolen for Kennedy in 1960. Kennedy's margin in Texas was about the same as Bush's in Ohio this year, about 2%. So it provides an interesting comparison.

I voted no on both.

Illinois was clearly stolen in 1960, but Texas most likely wasn't.  Though the power of LBJ in the state (in terms of vote influence) in 1960 was much stronger than say the power or influence in this area of even someone like Rendell today, I personally don't think enough votes were manipulated to change it.  It's the reason why Nixon chose better in terms of challenging the election.

LBJ was a liar/crook/scoundrel. I believe he could have had his home state stolen. He was a VERY VERY dirty politician and most people who lived in that era knew that about him. I voted option 1.

No, Texas was not stolen in 1960. Irregularities certainly, but the margin for Kennedy was too big for it to have been stolen.

What was stolen was the 1948 Texas Democratic primary. This was the infamous runoff where LBJ won by only 87 votes. After this he would go one to be elected Senator, become majority leader, vice-presiden, and finally president.

Oh, and Ohio wasn't stolen either

I voted no on both, although I too think that Kennedy effectively won Illinois by one vote in 1960, and that vote was Mayor Richard Daley's. Smiley

who really won Illinois in 1960 will never be known. There was vote fraud for Nixon going on downstate as well.

Texas no, LBJ had stolen elections there in the past, but this one was by too wide of a margin.

Kennedy won Texas because LBJ was so popular there. Bush won Ohio because he was popular there. That simple really.
