Under a different scenario of: 8.0% unemployment, would Obama be successful?

I think it'd still be Obama's victory, if barely. Partly because you've got Sarah Palin and Ron Paul two extremes, sure Ron's got the youth hooked but Sarah Palin's sorta like Dan Quayle. But, against Mitt Romney? I dunno, Romney's the only one who's not attacked the president's citizenship.

Now....Gary Johnson? You might see a closer election than 2000.

He would landslide Bachmann, Paul, and Palin. Romney, Daniels, and Huntsman would come close.

Under those circumstances:

Best chance unless he swings hard and far right: Romney

Close but not quite 2nd: Huntsman
Also close but not quite 3rd: Daniels

We will play nice and give you 4th: Paul
Playing nice again 5th: Palin

Not a chance: Bachmann

Obama's going to win, no matter who of the potential GOP candidates are, unless several highly unlikely things happen. Sorry, but 2012 is Obama's.

Romney is the GOP's best shot. He would come close, but I doubt he'd win. His past would be too much for the far-right, and they'd go after the Constitution Party's candidate for 2012.
