For my fellow Democrats here, would you cross over and vote for Romney over Obama?
I might. He strikes me as a Nixon type. He'll talk, and maybe even feel, conservative but govern even more Liberal than Obama. And that's the best kind of conservative you can get. One who garners Conservative support for Liberal goals.

A concern troll? No. I'm a dedicated Great Society Liberal. I believe in any means of achieving more Liberal reforms. If it means getting a "Conservative" in there who can garner support for Liberal ideals, why not?

Talk to some hardcore conservative, Tea Party types. They think Romney's a secret Liberal, a RINO.

I will not vote for any Republican in 2012 even if Jon Huntsman, Jr. somehow became the nominee.  2016 may be another story, provided the Tea Party is no longer as big a force as they are now, and the GOP moves back into sanity-land where the word 'compromise' is not viewed as an insult.

You can interpret the above however you wish...

Romney has no core policy views. He does not think in terms of policies, but in terms of ends, with reelection being the key end, and the belief the people surrounding him have, having cut their teeth in 2004 and sat out 2008, is that this means consolidating Conservatives and running a Bush 2004 style effort. As such it will be government by AEI/Heritage, except to the extent that doing so interferes with reelection. And Romney and his advisers have a markerd paranoia about maintaining right-wing credentials, not unjustifiably after what happened in Iowa last time.

If your expecting anything more liberal than Bush II, you are being delusional. That said, Bush II is rapidly becoming the consensus choice for many policy positions so who knows.

Compared to them he probably is... but that doesn't mean he's liberal compared to Obama, lol

...and even if it is true, why isn't it better to just vote for what you want instead of voting against it and still expecting more of it?

How many Car salesmen do you know personally? My father is a cars salesman. So I think this analogy is  not only offensive, but stupid.

Now now, no need to get nasty.

Let's keep this discourse civil.

To be honest, there's two possibilities about Moderatedemocrat 1990.  He's either a troll or dumber than an inbred box of rocks.  I think troll is the less embarassing choice.

Quite alright my good man, quite alright.

No offence taken, however, one must always remember that great Americans, such as Mitt Romney, deserve to be treated with respect, so one must constantly be vigilant in order to assure that one is diplomatic in one's choice of a descriptive account with reference to such individuals.  Smiley
