I am presently writing a Constitution for the UK with the assistance of a few friends on US Constitution Online. If any Brits (or Americans) have a particular interest in getting involved, please visit this website and view the Articles that have been published. The debate is kindly hosted on US Constitution Online and there is a link from the page I gave for you to view all debate so far and for you to add whatever comments you wish.

Really!! I had not noticed!!

Of course that would be the purpose of writing it down, to codify it.

All the Acts of Parliament are in effect our constitution(I love the fact that the NHS is a part of the UK constitution!), although there are various traditions etc.(eg. Parliament is BOSS) that could do with writing down.

Interesting idea though, I'll give it a closer look in a few days time.

Britain needs a written constitution.  I am always amazed by the fact that there is no sense of ownership of the processes of government by UK nationals.  An ability to amend a (short) written constitution via referendum could help do the trick.

The lack of a constitution which would presumably be difficult to change gives much more ownership over their government to UK citizens. Whether that's good or not is debatable, but they can change fundamental things much easier than we can.

If I were to run for government, a constitution would probably be one of my main issues.
