Holding the election a week earlier might be difficult with special elections. I might add, a special election is the only way a federal election could possibly coincide with Christmas anyway. The latest dates that the regularly-scheduled December elections can fall on are December 15-17.

I think this is a good point, and we ought to consider an alternative remedy.  Would a week later be better?

As I said in the other thread, are we sure turnout was down because of the holiday weekend? Or just lack of interest in Atlasia in general? There's really no proof it was because of the former. If anything, we should discuss lengthening the voting period if we want to try to increase turnout, like leaving it open till Monday or something.

Do we have evidence that historically there are less voters when an election falls on a Holiday weekend?

Look, I don't know if we ever had election during such period, but we all saw what happen last Easter and I can't see any explanation other than holiday season.

I respectfully ask my fellow Senators, despite all reservations, to at least sumbit this to the people of the respective regions. They are bored and some vote may energize them more.

Might this be the Polish version of "I do not care that is not signed by a Senator?" Tongue

Would it be possible to attach to this bill the language aimed at fixing the problem with the election timing? Would anyone have a mental breakdown if such were to be done if practicable?

I appreciate the Senator's efforts at ensuring consolidation and consistency, and now I would be most pleased if Kalwejt could respond as well.

Its not essentiall that this occur, as it can be brought up to the floor in this slot once this is passed/defeated or be brought up in the Regional Senators slot, whichever is open first.

I am beginning to think it will be easy to just pass this and than bring up the other amendment separately. Tongue

The text has already been incorporated into the other amendment already on the floor.  The amendment is good, but no sense in being redundant. I think it makes more sense just to have one amendment regarding the timing of elections.
