Okay, so you wan't to be president, good luck. There is only one president right now, Michael Collins (NPC) of the Eagle party*. You would be playing as a candidate in the Freedom party* primaries.

*Notes on parties. The Eagle party is similar to a combination of our Libertarian and Republican parties. The Freedom party is similar to the Green, Democratic, or any party on the left of the spectrum.

In order to start your campaign you need to make your candidate a name and other information like that. After that comes the hard part, the Presidential exam. This exam should state your position on the issues and see how favorable you are as a candidate. The grading for this exam is as follows:

Blue: Very Favorable. Strongly supportive of a Candidate’s election.
Green: Favorable: Taking a center position in an issue (IE, the 60% of the people who believe X is the best answer), or other small advantages.
Yellow: Neutral: Doesn’t hurt or help a candidate. May be a weakness against a candidate with a green score on an issue.
Orange: Unfavorable: Taking a out of synch position with an issue, a minor wrong or scandal, Orange marks potential problems in behavior.
Red: Very Unfavorable: A polar position on an issue, major scandal or weakness, or other serious problem with your electability.
Purple: Disqualified. It’s over, you aren’t running for president.

Here is the exam, so get cracking.

Just to clarify something: We're all essentially running as liberals, correct? So someone like me needs to take the mindset of a liberal when taking it?

Not exactly, there are conservatives in the party such as there are "Bluedog" Democrats. So you do not have to change your political mindset to play the game.

So, I'm interested. Lemme know if I screw this up. What year is this taking place in just so I can use dates for the job experience below :p

General

Character Name - Ernst Amsel (not my real name obviously haha)
Current Job/Political Position - Governor
Party Affilitation - Freedom (This is the liberal one righto?)

Background Questions:

1.   Age - 44
2.   Gender - Male
3.   Ethnic Origin - White, German
4.   Religious Affiliation - None
5.   Job History - Lawyer, Congressman (1 term), Mayor (2 terms), Governor (2 terms)
a.   Military Service - None
b.   Previous Political Offices - Congressman (1 term), Mayor (2 terms), Governor (2 terms, currently in second term)
6.   Greatest Accomplishments - Balancing the budget during a recession with a large budget gap
7.   Greatest Failings - Not doing enough for alternative energy, allowing them to fall through the gaps
8.   Behavior and Demeanor - "Tough" "cool as a cucumber under pressure" "stands up for values and principles --but knows how to balance compromise" "maintains sight of big picture"

Position Questions: Write what your candidate feels/Has DONE in regards to the following. Note that having no opinion on a topic is a “yellow” answer that may expose oneself to weakness against someone with a centrist view, and that stating a view and then taking action against it is very painful. Note also that it’s possible to anger both sides with actions, which would be at best orange.

Position on Policy, Foreign:

F1. Israel - Less military aid to Israel, stop human rights abuses between Israel-Palestine, continue to help Israel fight the terrorist organization Hammas
F2. Iraq Reconstruction - Continued support for the Democratic Iraqi Government while providing them with training resources when needed
F3. Korea - In support of strong sanctions on North Korea, against NK having nuclear weapons
F4. Opinion of the United Nations - Increases communication between countries, fosters friendships and relationships that would not otherwise exist.
F5. Europe (what should we do about the European allies who didn't support our Iraq War?) - Can't win em all over. Continue to support our European allies.
F6. Foreign Aid - More stipulations on who we're giving foreign aid to.
F7. "Axis of Villainy" - Watch with a close eye and respond as appropriate

Position on Policy, Economics:

E1. Free Trade vs. Protection from International Businesses
E2. Regulation of Business - Work with businesses and consumers to find regulations that protect consumers without putting an undue burden on businesses.
E3. Policy towards Labor Unions - In favor, very supportive
E4. Unemployment vs. Inflation - Would consult with economists and other experts depending on the situation. Both are bad.
E5. Balancing the Budget vs. Cutting Programs - We need to maintain safety nets for the weakest people in America, if we cut programs we have to be very careful of who they affect and make sure its absolutely necessary before doing so.
E6. Balancing the Budget vs. Raising Taxes - Would have to evaluate the circumstances when a bill raising taxes came to my desk. If it was necessary for our security then most likely yes.
E7. Intellectual Property and Copyright - We need to protect our artists, intellectuals and great thinkers.

Position on Policy, Military:

M1. Reduction of Naval Size - Upgrade/maintain size
M2. American Miltiary "Occupation" in Iraq - Reduce
M3. Afghanistan - Prefer to remove our troops but would consult with Generals
M4. Pay and Benefits - Something I would have to look into more closely as President. Our military deserves to be reimbursed well for their service and patriotism.

Position on Policy, Social Programs

SP1. Social Security - We need to protect America's senior citizens -- Social Security needs rework and reform but by putting together great minds we can fix this.
SP2. Medicare - Wouldn't matter if we had universal coverage.
SP3. Health Care - Universal Coverage for all and tort reform.
SP4. Welfare (Temporary Aid to Needy Families) - Devolving authority onto the states was positive --now we need to see what worked for those states and see if we can apply it nationally.

Position on Policy, Crime and Justice

C1. Death Penalty - Strongly Against
C2. Drug Laws and Possession - Legalize Marijuana, tougher sentences for distributers of illegal drugs.
C3. Rehabilitation vs. Punishment - Rehabilitation over punishment to an extent. Some can't and never will be rehabilitated
C4. Tobacco, Alcohol and Firearms Policy - Three seperate issues that should not be lumped together. Tobacco should be taxed & regulated, states are still free to alter drinking ages --I would be in favor of not tying drinking ages to federal funds, and more cooperation between our military and other investigative/police agencies for background checks before buying guns.
C5. Cruel and Unusual Punishment - Strongly Against
C6. Torture and Interrogation Methods - The field manual for the military already lists appropriate measures, against torture.
C7. Antiterrorism and Civil Liberties - Make sure out civil liberties are not being stepped on in the name of counter-terrorism.

Position on Policy, Energy:

N1. Importance of Nuclear Power - In favor
N2. Importance of Solar Power - Strongly in favor
N3. Price of Oil - If high prices helps us move onto alternative energy sources then we are safer in the long run by not depending on foreign oil

Position on Policy, Science, Education, Technology

So, I'm interested. Lemme know if I screw this up. What year is this taking place in just so I can use dates for the job experience below :p

Thank you for your interest. It takes place in 08'. I sure hope some of the other players still have interest in the game, we should then be able to take off from there. I could've hardly caught up with it when it started, back in early 2011. So now we could start, hopefully, in early 2012
