Some interesting results; I was curious what the views of Atlas would be.

Did not click abortion, suicide, cheating on spouse.

As for out-of-wedlock baby, yes if it's a result of cheating on spouse, otherwise not so much.

Checked all except abortion, death penalty, polygamy and cheating.  All should be legal (except death penalty).

I clicked on all but cloning humans and even then I can see situations where it would be morally acceptable. Suicide can be totally acceptable, I think that one has to be judged specifically on individual cases though. Blowing your head off in front of people is definitely immoral but how could anyone argue that a POW taking a cyanide pill before being captured is immoral?

Cheating on spouse is another situational one. Abortion can be immoral if it's for asinine reasons "oh I want the baby to be a different gender!".

Checked all except death penalty and cheating. And I'd not outlaw the latter.

Clicked all except human cloning (which I was iffy on, okay with organs but not full humans), death penalty, polygamy (which I'm on the fence about on legality), and cheating on a spouse/significant other (which should be legal)

Where's the "NOTA" option?

(not that I'm selecting it, but it should be there)

Physician-assisted suicide
Abortion
Having a baby out of wedlock
Same-sex relationships
Embryonic stem-cell research
Gambling
Divorce

Was conflicted on cloning and pornography. Even if I find them immoral, I still support them. 66% of responders find pornography immoral, but I'm sure a lot of them watch it.

Everything except polygamy and the death penalty.

Regarding the death penalty: I don't support it. I think it's ineffective and a lot more trouble than it's worth. As I've mentioned before, though, I'm not any longer morally opposed to it (just as I'm not morally opposed to other types of punishment that are given under the rule of law.)

At any rate to the original question: I don't think most things are any of my business. I don't wish to legislate something as subjective as morality...and indeed personally, I don't object to practically any of them on principle.

Everything except the death penalty, polygamy, and cheating on your spouse/significant other. (I am actually incredibly disappointed in some people here not agreeing on that last bit.)

I understand what you're saying, and you're very often right...but I'm afraid to generalize here. There can be rather extreme circumstances that would affect my opinion, I think.

I see where you're coming from, but there are rather extreme circumstances that would affect my opinion on abortion, for instance. I just approached answering these questions in a very general way. In general, I think abortion is morally acceptable. If someone wanted to get an abortion for fun, or something, or because they didn't like the gender of a child, I wouldn't consider that a very moral decision, but that's a situation that must be so very rare that I can't really allow it to change my opinion for the vast majority of cases.

I took the question as to mean "in general, which do you find morally acceptable," and not "which do you always find morally acceptable."

Although, that being said, I don't honestly think there's any justification for cheating in any case, but that's just my old fashioned streak. If the situation is that bad between you and your significant other, then you should have broken things off before it got to that point.

Fur, testing on animals to an extent, same sex relationships, and gambling I suppose are morally acceptable.

Pretty sure I set it to allow you to change your votes if you want.

Also, these are supposed to be general. I think it is not an inconsistent position to be, say, morally opposed to cloning humans but supportive of it in extreme circumstances--but this survey is looking for your general position, not specialized exceptions.

Same.  And none of these should be illegal.  I'm not the kind of asshat that thinks MY morals should be the basis for everybody else's laws.

Only buying/wearing animal fur (or at least is not universally wrong), same-sex relationships, medical testing on animals (depending on a number of factors), cloning animals (depending on the purpose), and gambling, though only if its in an occassional, restrained manner.
