We had one in 2008, and it looks like the field is about set now.

The problem is that I believe the maps are limited to five colors for up to five different candidates, and it's still a bit uncertain who will be the top 3-5 candidates or so in the state-by-state polling. Things are still shaking out from the Huckabee and Trump dropouts. Romney leads every recent state poll since they dropped out, but it's uncertain who else might be leading in some of these upcoming state polls. Probably best to wait a few weeks while that shakes out.
Of course, it's all up to the whims of Dave anyway.

Let`s wait for the Ames Straw poll in Iowa (I think it's in late August or so), it should be clear then who runs and who won't.
Then Dave can set up the database for the primary polls.

The Ames Straw poll will be on Aug. 13th. That might be a good time to start the primary polls database.
Though another possible benchmark would be when Palin announces whether she's running. If she's out, then we'll have a better idea of which candidates to include on the map.
OTOH, Dave could probably start a general election poll database any time, as Romney is likely to be viewed as the de facto frontrunner for at least the next month or two.

Not if Romney trails in the upcoming South Carolina poll by PPP ...

Bump, now that Perry is in, Pawlenty is out and it's looking increasingly clear that Palin ain't running. We also have a top three (JRP, Bachmann and Mittens) to give colors to.

Ah, yet another connection I have with Perry.
Why not set the first three colors for Romney, Bachmann, and Perry, and save one for Giuliani? I think Paul is definitely deserving of a color too.
And ftr, as the Resident Romney fan (along with Winfield), I'd love for Romney to be green again in 2012 like he was in 2008.

I would heavily advocate that we at least keep Romney as green, so that there's that correlation for 2008-2012.

Only if Perry gets to be orange.
Blue wouldn't be too bad either.

Yay! Make Romney lime green, bitte.
I'm curious to see if Palin will be included on it.

As of now, no. But there's a certain front-runner who's not included in the colored people yet, so I'm guessing that person may become red.
