Note that this wasn't anywhere near Chicago. You expect this of Chi-town. This was the sticks, straight across the state from my own neck of the woods. Anyway, there's video in the link.

Wow. Not only does this guy remind me of Einzige, but he lives in the same state as him.

Miami Beach. Same day.

I'm halfway-convinced that the police in this country have been replaced by Bizarropigs from Bizarroworld: instead of secretly hiding their activities behind the Blue Wall of Science, they're tearing down that wall and letting it all hang loose.

I was in Miami Beach that day. lol.  Police are fighting hard to maintain the protected status of police brutality.

Why are police going out of their way to make people hate them?

My opinion, and while I have no evidence for it it makes intuitive sense to me, is that the police are getting nervous that they might be next on the chopping block when it comes to unionized public officials, and are doing their best to make themselves seem indispensable to the public. If someone were to couple the public outrage against public employee unionization with an attack on police corruption and police brutality, it might make for a heady political brew indeed. Of course, if that's the case, their efforts to appear clean gene by hiding evidence of their activities has backfired tremendously. Public antipathy towards the cops is rising in both America and Britain, and it both cases it's largely a latent, politically untapped sentiment.

This is a pretty dangerous situation, actually. If people become desperate against the police, will this endanger the lives of the police?

All law enforcement agencies have gone on power grabs since 2001

Here's a fine article on this worrisome trend, and it seems to confirm at least my suspicion that the cases of police brutality in which a camera is seized from the victim is on the rise. They are not coping well with the new information age.
