Reagan was to the right of Bush. No clue why the left hates the latter more.

Two reasons, both pretty obvious - 1) he's more religious and 2) the GOP/religion party are more dominant now than during Reagan's terms.

Reagan was pretty much a typical secular Californian, particularly after he married Nancy Davis, until his assassination threat. And even then, he was more spiritualist than religious.

The difference is Reagan didn't let his religion dictate policy as much as Bush does.

I picked Bush over Reagan.  Bush's presidency has been an absolute disaster & although it didn't come out till his 2nd term Reagan didn't deserve re-election because of a few things, but Iran-Contra definatley tops that list
