I voted No.

He is a fine representative of everything the Democratic party stands for, and particularly well represents the New York delegation.

Huh

You know those people who are kind of dumb but are under the impression that they're actually quite intelligent?

Yeah.

No, I am not talking about resigning. Whether Weiner chooses to resign is a personal matter to him, and I am not urging that he resign. The ball is and should remain solely in his court on that decision. What I am talking about is that such behavior causes me to lose confidence in such a politician. If their word is not good, they are pretty useless if not positively damaging to the health of the polity typically, in my experience and opinion.

The fine folks at Twitter are pretty pissed at him.  Generally speaking, online tech companies don't like to be falsely accused of hacking or that their website has been compromised because the threat of security holes is very real and they do take it very seriously.  Not only as a business service, but because any user who suspects that the website is negligent or incapable of protecting their names, e-mail address, birthday, real address, and private communications, will flee and potentially even sue the site for privacy leaks.

Just imagine if an online forum was hacked, and the hacker found real names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, real addresses, and private e-mails and spread them, blackmailed you, or id theft.  Everyone using that site would be pretty pissed.

So Thanks to Mr Weiner, he may have increased awareness for Twitter hacking protection, but in doing so, he threw the entire Twitter support team under the bus.  I know that they are glad that Mister Weiner finally admitted to the truth that there was no hacking.  Any one who saw the IP logins to his account can tell there was no hacking, and they can also see his perverted private DMs to Ginger Lee the porn star he was actually trying to send the photos to.  It will be interesting to see if the HOR investigative committee subpoenas the Twitter and Facebook records of Mr Weiner and determines if he used govt equipment to communicate with these young women.

But I think Twitter has stumbled upon a business model, increased security and conceirge service for Verified accounts, particularly philandering politicians.  Weiner needs tech support to figure out how to DM compromising photos correctly.

LOL all the more reason to support him. Twitter is an absolute abomination. It's nothing but a venue for attention whoring utterly inane and mundane details of your life. Most of Twitter is nothing but people posting about what they are cooking for dinner or that they are walking the dog. Anything against Twitter is fine by me.

That is sort of like bashing the radio because you don't like the music they play on most stations.  Twitter certainly has more utility than you realize as demonstrated during the Arab spring.  Sure most of it is disposable garbage, but so is most TV, movies and other internet content.

How about resigning because he's an immature jackass?

You blast Twitter and the reasons people use it...then defend Weiner. Perfectly consistent with your usual level of idiocy.

Being an attention whore is not a reason to resign from Congress. Actually it might as well be a requirement.

I know what you mean... he clearly has no taste.  In the Miss America pageant that came to Vegas back in January, Miss Delaware was about 17 or so, and was completely bald!  Honestly, I know they have a population of like thirty-four, but they couldn't find a girl with hair to crown as their most beautiful?  She didn't even have decent boobs!  Come on.

For what its worth, Weiner's out - probably resigning on Monday or when his wife gets back if he wants to wait longer.  His staff is looking for new jobs.  Basically, the Caucus will expel him and prevent him or his staff from doing anything if Weiner decides to stay.  It will basically be a career killer for anyone on his staff because they will have stayed on a sinking ship and seen as disloyal to the democratic party leadership.  Basically, its time to choose sides, you're either with Weiner or your with Pelosi, and Pelosi's not going anywhere, so the Weiner staff is making the smart move and abandoning their shirtless leader.

http://biggovernment.com/publius/2011/06/12/weiner-staff-heading-for-the-exits/

Frankly, Weiner's weiner is a distraction and Pelosi is sick of seeing his cock pictures on TMZ.
I don't even know why Weiner wants to stay, he wants to be mayor of NYC, so resign and start running for mayor in a few months.  He's only hurting the Democratic Party by staying, and if he has any loyalty to anyone besides himself, he should be loyal to the Party and do the right thing by going away.  Any sane and loyal Democrat will realize that the quicker Weiner is gone, the better chances Obama will be re-elected in 2012, otherwise this is the first step in a Republican landslide.

Agreed.

Weiner is a member in the House for a district that I don't live in, and thus doesn't represent me.  If the people of his district feel he should step down, so be it.  Personally, had it just been the whole sexting thing, I wouldn't care.  The fact that he lied so blatantly is the only thing that irks me.  I abstain Tongue

Come on, you just don't get it.  Its not just about Weiner's job and his Weiner photos.

This is about the Democratic Party as a whole with the Democrats in Congress and the national party.  The Weiner issues have become a distraction to whatever message the Democrats want to have in their 2012 election cycle.  The longer Weiner stays and the longer Weiner photos are on TMZ and drudge, the worse it is for the other Democrats in Congress and yes, it also hurts Obama by association, maybe just a little, but its something that Obama does not want to deal with, some horny congressman who's weiner photos are shown to everyone in America, is not going to help Obama's marketing campaign for re-election.

The Republicans want Weiner to stay because he will become the new Evil Democrat Poster Boy for a godless morally corrupt Democratic Party.  Its really that simple.  Weiner's no Bill Clinton and Weiner is not the President, he's some small time social climber who's trying to marry his way up in the world.

If only Breitbart had stuck the "Big Government" logo on the picture of Weiner's naked cock.

I was under the impression that Weiner wants to run for NYC mayor.  Therefore its pointless to stay in the HOR.  If I were him, I would only leave if I got financial donations from Pelosi and other Democrats for his mayoral campaign, sure its blackmailing other Democrats, but he really wants to be mayor more than he wants to be a congressman.  Weiner just wants a buyout, or maybe he really needs that congressional health care plan for his wife's pregnancy, I hear its the best hmo in the nation.

Weiner is NOT going to be NYC mayor anytime soon.  As I stated before NYC mayor is NOT a consolation prize for disgraced politicians.  Without his House seat Weiner is nothing.  Weiner's biggest concern at the moment should be redistricting.  Polls show his constituents support him... at the moment.

But I don't know why he wants to stay in Congress, does he want to be a lifer?  I think he can still run for mayor, he would be the biggest name on the ballot if Alec Baldwin stays out.  New Yorkers don't care about his multiple Weiner pics, in fact, he should own it and tape a Weiner photo to his forward.  "Look I'm proud of my Weiner and my name is Weiner, so vote for Weiner" - but he might get arrested for disseminating lewd pictures.  New Yorkers love him for some inexplicable reason, and so do women now that they seen him and our turned on, he is a shoe-in for mayor.

Also, he'll be kicked out of the Democrat Caucus soon, so he's got that going for him.

It looks like he did use some government resources in this, so reluctantly, yes.

Politically, of course he should.  This does hurt the Democratic party.

I haven't seen his city wide polling numbers.  Just because his current constituents support him doesn't mean he's going to win in Rangel's district and vica versa.  Until I see some polling numbers that are city wide I have my doubts.

The other thing is I don't think this guy can do anything else.  He can be kicked off every plum committee he's on and be banished to congressional Siberia.  Its still better than being a jobless disgraced politician with a baby on the way.
