Hmmn...Italy or Norway.

Politics point goes to: Norway
Historical point goes to: Italy
Weather point goes to: Italy
Liveability point goes to: Norway

....which just leaves 'amount of good done for the world'. Italy has done more good, but Norway has done less evil. I don't really want to vote for either of them, but one has to go, and I vote for...

Norway.

OK, so it's 5-3-4 NED/ITA/USA... my vote might make the difference.

If I vote for one of the three.

Politics: Netherlands 2; USA 1; Italy 0.
History: Italy 2; USA 1; Netherlands 0.
Weather: USA 2; Italy 1; Netherlands 0.
Livability: Netherlands 2; USA 1; Italy 0.
Good for the world: 3-way tie.

So, USA 6 points, Netherlands 5 points, Italy 4 points.

Eliminate Italy. (which means maybe my vote doesn't make the difference...)

Italy 4, Austria 3, USA 3, Sweden 1. I'm not going to consider Sweden.

Politics: Austria 2, USA 1, Italy 0. (But all bad)
History: Italy 2, USA 1, Austria 0. (But all good)
Weather: USA 2, Italy 1, Austria 0.
Livability: Austria 2, USA 1, Italy 0.
Good done for the world: Italy 1.5, USA 1.5, Austria 0.

That comes to Austria 4, Italy 4.5, and USA 6.5. Not at all the result I was expecting.

Eliminate Austria.

The top four are all ridiculous, but this time round I'll vote Sweden.

Hmmph.

Politics: 2 Germany, 1   Sweden, 0 France.
Weather: 2 France, 1 Germany, 0 Sweden.
History: 2 France, 1 Germany, 0 Sweden.
Liveability: 2 Germany, 1 Sweden, 0 France.
Good done for the world: 2 France, 0.5 Sweden, 0.5 Germany.

Totals: 6.5 Germany, 6 France, 2.5 Sweden.

Eliminate Sweden.

Politics: Germany

Weather: France

Livability: Germany

History: France

Good done for the world: Germany has done slightly more good and a lot more bad. So, France.

Eliminate Germany.

(and a vote of sympathy for three countries that certainly deserve to be in the final: Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.)

Um, Australian, New Zealander and Argentinian wines are clearly the best in the world, followed by Spanish, Chilean and American before France is represented. Then Italy, Germany and South Africa round out the top ten.
