Virginia & New Jersey
«

Since 2006 mid-term elections are two years away, I’ve been looking at the two governor elections in 2005, both Democratic seats.
Virginia – the incumbent Mark Warner (D) is not eligible for re-election, so it looks like Lt. Governor Tim Kaine (D) against Attorney General Jerry Kilgore (R).
New Jersey – since Ex-Governor Jim McGreevey’s resignation, Richard Codey (D) took office. There are several Democrats and Republicans in this race.
So, this will be for discussing Virginia & New Jersey Gubernatorial Elections, who will win? How much of a chance do the candidates have? And other burning questions asked here…

Virginia is lean GOP, New Jersey is strong Democrat.
Anyone seen any poll results?

I was thinking the same thing, nice to hear someone from the state talk about it.

I think it's safe to say that there will be a Governor Corzine for NJ.

Corzine will win a decisive victory.
Shame about Warner. Anyone know if he's really going to run for president? Would he win Virginia?

Don't be so sure. Republicans ar still holding out hope that Codey and Andrews challenge Corzine. Maybe that could split the vote in the Dem primary and allow Codey to come away victorious. In that case, Republicans will have a good shot.
However, that situation is not likely to happen
We can still hope...

Depends on the opponent. Against Giuliani, I think he could win it fairly decisively.

Odds are Rob wont win the nomination. But if he does hell win the Governorship, which is a plus for my county. Cashcow where do you live? I'm stick of everyone buying there elections. The fact is Andrews is a better candidate no matter how much money he has.

Check my profile
I live in Camden County. Andrews is my representative and one of my favorite politicians in the country. I just don't think it will be possible for anyone to beat Corzine, South Jersey never gets much input.
Any possibility of him taking over the Senate seat?

No... he will "probably" run for the Senate if Warner retires in 2008 or perhaps in 2006, if he where to run for the Dem nomination and get it he'd have a tough job winning VA though he could (as well as perhaps WV and AR), but he knows that he's not ready to run yet and so he'll try and run for the Senate and if its an open race in 2008 he'll win.
