For me, I would say David Brooks, David Frum and Michael Gerson.  I like Brooks and Frum for their streak of realism/pragmatism on fiscal issues by not reflexively advocating a spending cut-only agenda favored by most GOP politicians these days  (I'm worried by Frum's Hawkishness on foreign issues, though) .  For Gerson, I like his advocacy for a compassionate government tempered by fiscal restraint, even though I may disagree with his specific ideas.  While this post is aimed mainly at liberal posters, conservatives are more than welcome to join this discussion!

I suppose George Will in that group, although you're essentially asking whether it's more pleasant to have a blowtorch or a power drill to the scrotum.

George Will, easily.  From what I hear (he's more or less a friend of a friend), a pretty nice guy, too.

Michelle Malkin. They all promote terrible ideas, so I'll just vote based on looks.

Charles Krauthammer of course for the hilarious name and most of all for the Dr. Strangelovian quality.

David Brooks

I just have a lot more exposure to him and he is very reasonable.  I get a lot of my news from unbiased sources such as PBS and NPR, and he is featured at least weekly on the PBS Newshour.  I love the way they have adult conversations on the PBS Newshour.

I never listened to or watched Fox Noise even before the University of Maryland study came out showing that their viewers are the least informed.

PBS is fine, but calling NPR unbiased is like calling Fox unbiased......

I'd take minor exception to that -- I think Fox News is showily biased top-to-bottom, whereas NPR is biased at an editorial and programmatic level.  I don't get a strong sense of bias from their reporting staff in their actual work product.

NPR pisses me off more, though, because they go through the pretense of being unbiased, whereas Fox's only attempt at unbiased reporting is the "fair and balanced" tagline, which I just read as "fair and balanced...when combined with the left-leaning mainstream media".  (Addition by subtraction, I suppose.)

I stopped listening to Diane Rehm when she started going militantly anti-Tea Party; up until that point, she had been pretty neutral with only mild pro-Dem positioning (more left-leaning guests, more centrist right-leaner, etc.)  She's still probably better than 95% of what's out there, but the substantive political debating started to flag so it lost my interest.

Tie between Kraut and Will, though I prefer Kraut to Will on foreign policy.

Andrew Sullivan is conservative, as far as I'm concerned and I read his blog every once and a while so I'll go with him.

I like him but I wouldn't quite call him "conservative", he's a bit too nuanced for such a categorization.
