Obama impersonator pulled offstage after making racial, gay jokes at GOP gathering
By Aaron Blake and Amy Gardner

NEW ORLEANS — A President Obama impersonator was pulled off the stage Saturday at the Republican Leadership Conference, after telling a string of racially themed jokes about the president.

The impersonator, Reggie Brown, took the stage at the annual presidential cattle call to the Bruce Springsteen song “Born in the USA” — an apparent allusion to the birther controversy. He proceeded to tell a series of off-color jokes poking fun at Obama’s biracial heritage and a gay member of Congress.

They had him pulled offstage by security.  How racist of them!

Nobody ever accused Republicans of having a sense of humor.

If the President was there he probably would have laughed.  This is just a case of Republicans afraid of being labeled racist again.

Only after he made cracks about the Republican candidates, not for the racial jokes.

The biggest problem with this, is that it isn't funny. Apparently the tipping point was Barney Frank or maybe the Mormon plural wives thing.

Yeah, it was really the racist jokes that they disapproved of.

As embarrassing as it is, he was not pulled off for insensitive jokes - he was pulled off after he started mocking the Republican presidential field. It does no good for our party to be so stuffy that we can't accept a little bit of ribbing from a comedian. I wish more of us had a sense of humor.

Not particularly offensive, just dumb and unfunny.

It's funny how often Republicans accuse Democrats of being easily-offended and lacking a sense of humor when Republicans are the ones who refuse to laugh at themselves.

Yep.  They were laughing and applauding along to the "bad jokes" until he started making fun of Republicans.

It's important to remember, however, that the people who attend these conventions are such hacks that Sean Hannity could be raping a baby on stage and they would cheer and call it heroic.

Uh yeah, why be afraid of being called racist when we could just embrace it fervently with dumb crap like this.

Good lord man, you can say that?  You're a braver man than I am.  I wonder what would happen if I quoted you in my signature.

But about the impersonator - is he a white-man in Black-Face?

It's funny how often Republicans accuse Democrats of being easily-offended and lacking a sense of humor when Republicans are the ones who refuse to laugh at themselves.

Welcome to planet Earth.

From the Politico article:

"Eventually, RLC President and CEO Charlie Davis made the decision to pull him offstage, and a man came onstage to physically escort Brown off.

“I pulled him off the stage,” Davis acknowledged afterward. “I just thought he had gone too far. He was funny the first 10 or 15 minutes, but it was inappropriate, it was getting ridiculous.”

Watch the video. Sure enough, the racist and homophobic jokes got big applause and laughs, and sure enough it was only when the impersonator only started hitting on GOP candidates that he got booted.

Oh, and that group of "unrepresentatvie extremists" included the RNC Chairman.

Politico did the GOP a real favor, but the rest of us a disservice, with that misleading headline.

I think the funniest part of the video of this that I saw was when the impersonator had a picture of George W. Bush put up on the screen and the audience... applauded.

I thought that even Republicans had given up on trying to pretend that he was a good President.

Saw him last night on the WWE PPV.  Not the funniest guy in the world, I'm sure.
