Has anyone else noticed these tend to be the most irritating?

I was first thinking of CitizenX who basically just bolds random sentences for no reasons, but reading some things in the 2008 archives just now reminded me of some inane blather of J. J. that kept using this (basically anything with his then obsession over the Florida and Michigan delegate feud.)

It kind of makes sense though...

Mine are never random, and I tent to use italics.

Using italics causes you to tent?  Better lay off the cialis man.

I've been seriously considering a delete on sight approach to Citizen X, something I haven't done since HoffmanJohn.  I think Inks would disagree, so I haven't done it.

Me using bold and underlining frequently.

Me NOT being irritating.

(well, when you want to be clear and to have a hierarchy in ideas, bold, underlining, italics MUST be used: it's only the use of capital letters that can be irritating from time to time Tongue)

I use italics sometimes, though not often.  I do use underlining rarely, and I think bold only very rarely.

ECR was particularly annoying with using bold letters, also enlarged.

Meh, I don't see what the big deal is really.

I have to admit CitizenX does kind of get annoying with his use of bolding.  It's like a really annoying argumentative way of using it, like when he bolded and enlarged "n race" when he was making the atypical "Republicans are racist because Strom Thurmond was a Republican" argument oft used by liberal Democrats.  As if something said by Strom Thurmond when he was running on a third party ticket in 1948 had a real bearing on the Republican Party in 2011 because he used the words "n race" in his speech.

Honestly, I use bolding from time to time usually to bold offensive words to see how on guard the mods are about profanity (you're welcome guys) and statements in italics usually indicate sarcasm.

I'm not referring to such things, I'm referring to doing them in just about every post and when it emphasizes things that really don't need to be emphasized (or perhaps should but because just about everything is bolded the point is missed.) If you bolded as much as CitizenX your point in bolding would also be missed.

Kalwejt once again completely misses the point as usual.

Oh right.
Sorry, I got thrown off by the word "frequently" in the title.
Well then I completely agree with your argument, especially about CitizenX.

I don't think you're familiar either with the J. J. posts that I'm referring to (this was during a period when he basically copied and pasted the same post pretty much every day despite the fact that it was full of easily refutable logic holes and a lot of hackish swipes at Obama.)

The only time I really use bold is when discussing a film title and even then I use CAPS too.

I've only notice it routinely when Einzige was among us.........no one else uses it enough to catch my eye.

It's not as annoying as the Courrier New crowd, who seem to think that seemingly randomly putting words in another font, will make their great minds shine even brighter.

That was just two people and they seem to have quit it. But whatever point they were trying to make is still very unclear.

CitizenX's frequent use of bold text is part of the reason why he's on my ignore list.

I only do that when I am posting articles -though I doubt that's what you're referring to.

There is one less annoyance to deal with.  CitizenX has been banned.  His obnoxious posts will no longer sidetrack every thread they're on, and his formatting will no longer blight the forum.  We won't have to read his drivel anymore, and for that we should be thankful.  This is a good day for Atlas, as we are now without one of our worst posters.

Could someone fill me in on what the nature of CitizenX's sins was exactly?

He frequently sidetracked discussions, was extremely abrasive and very obtuse who refused to budge on anything. Honestly not much different from J. J. though.

Among other things, every one of his posts was written in the style of the above parody.
