Suppose Goldwater & Johnson agreed to debate in 1964.  What do you think the outcome would have been?  What issues would have been on the table and what issues would each candidate have tried to bring up?

Don't forget the VP race too Humphrey vs Miller

I don't know the issues that would have been brought up. Civil Rights I guess. I'm not sure how big an issue Vietnam was in the fall of 1964.
