"Summarize" the preceding poster
«
on:
June 29, 2011, 03:00:46 am »
Inspired by
this thread
(see BRTD's post and the following ones). Basically, you have to present the preceding poster as if you were talking to someone who doesn't know him at all.

New-ish member
Makes excellent maps, perhaps the best maps on this forum
Is a real goldmine of political information and stuff on New England/NY
Is very friendly and helpful
And certainly not a hack by any measure; rather an intelligent moderate figure of reason
Apparently attends a uni in CT, which is pretty much also the personal info we know about him

An old though young member of this forum,
who is a centrist, regionalist, social liberal, financial hawk, foreign-affairs FDR-like realistic guy.
A huge contributor to this forum, with excellent maps, brilliant sociological and electoral analyses, very fine ideas of what-ifs.
Franco-canadian Vermont, Celtic and Arabic countries lover, very open to the world, to international history and affairs, with an often refreshing view and which are the subject of his university course and of his clever and knowledgeable own site.
Very sensitive to some passions of its own, but with a big amount of self-mockery, except when it's from trolls, hacks and spammers.

Commonly refered as an "old man" (including by himself). I've rarely seen him post outside the Forum Community board and doesn't seem interested in discussing politics. His main interest seems to be fooling around with his clique of admirers. Likes to make fun of other people even when he makes no sense at all. A lot of people find him witty and I've yet to understand why. Politically he's a kind of right-libertarian hack who cares a lot about guns.

I don 't know him very well, but what I do know, impresses me. He is a very bright and mature young man who writes extremely well - indeed, shockingly well assuming English is not his first language. He is informed and generally seems to have pretty good judgment. But as his post above reflects, he is a rather harsh grader. Perhaps he will become a tad more charitable with the passage of time. And by the way, Grumps has put up a considerable body of work on the US politics board, generally stuff about the dysfunctional antics of government, an institution that he trusts about as much as Weiner's honesty about his personal affairs.

On Torie (since Bullmosse barely beat me to it)
-Republican from Laguna, California
-Policy views on social issues are open and inclusive.
-Strong fiscal conservative, especially knowledgable about law, government budget and tax policy
-Committed to education reform and entitlement reform
-A preeminent master of making redistricting maps
-One of the forum's most brilliant and analytically skilled posters, who bases his views on empirical data and writes about those views lucidly
-An entirely benevolent hedonist and an apparent favorite with the ladies
-An unfailingly perfect gentleman
On Bullmoose:
-Republican from southeastern Pennsylvania
-self-described socially liberal and fiscally conservative Republican
-outstanding writer, whose posts at once demonstrate fair-mindedness, insight and excellent wit
-provides quite observant political analysis and displays considerable knowledge and has made good contribution to some topics on the Religion and Philosophy boards
-followers of his posts will never be disappointed

I've always thought of anvikshiki (though I've had limited contact with him) as a very bright and sensible poster. Unlike many here, I believe that he really looks at all perspectives.
-He's an independent (obviously, since he's open-minded) from Illinois.
-Leans left-of-center, though stays close to the middle.
-Always fair and even-handed.
-He's one of the posters whose opinions I read, and not skim over.

Summary:
Incredibly smart and well read for his age. "Articulate" doesn't touch it. I recall how shocked I was only several months ago to discover he's only 15.
Conservative, but not a nut about it. A rare vanishing breed of (usually, relatively
) sensible Republicans.

A very kind and gentle creature. (Hahah, yeah it wasn't that funny...
)
Badger brings a large degree of expertise and talent to whatever he does and is always willing to take a heavy work load.
He's also quite a nice person; I don't know if I've ever really seen him get in a forum fight. He' remarkable dedication for the causes he believes in (Abortion rights immediately come to mind) are very nice, and show something that is lacking from many Democrats these days.

Used to be very close to him...
Very intelligent for his young age, seems pretty locked on his views. Despite his left leanings, very willing to work with both sides and have friends on both sides, which is a quality I deeply admire. Has had some commitment issues on Atlasia, but I understand that real life must always take precedence.
