The GOP needs to model itself on the conservatism of Taft and Coolidge, which I actually think is the direction we're moving.

Emphasize fiscal libertarianism and a non-interventionist foreign policy.

Whatever happens to the Republican Party if they lose badly in 2012, it won't turn back to Roosevelt Progressivism.  The Democratic Party pretty much adopted everything Theodore Roosevelt and the Bull Moose Party supported in its platform.
