Lovely. I only turned on Morning Joe after it had happened, so I caught everyone in mid-apologies. Gaffes like this seem frequent on that show it seems.

"This disloyal scumbag should never work in journalism again. After hearing this disrespectful talk about our Dear President I will never read Time magazine again. It's a shame we live in a country where Mark Halperin can't be thrown in jail for talking about Obama like this."

I don't really see the big deal. A curse word, yes. But dick is pretty tame, IMHO. And Halperin was even nice enough to ask for permission.

It is kind of a respect for the office sort of thing though, so I can see the need for decorum. But a country where I can't call the president a dick on national television is not a country I want to live in.(Tongue in cheek here.)

1. I don't think this is a big deal at all. There are a million more offensive things on tv every day, let alone the more offensive things in real life.
2. If this had happenned five years ago under W, FOX would be having a field day about the moral breakdown of the country a la wardrobe malfunction.

Nah, the moral fabric of society broke down when that scorching hot Lebanese-American Muslim chick was scandalized over pole dancing the day after she was elected Miss America. 

I actually thought her marketing value should rise because of the pole dancing, but that's probably because my own moral fabric had long since entered an advanced state of decay.
