Cain
Why? Cain has at least some genuinely conservative views as opposed to people like Mitt Romney, or ThinkProgress's favorite Republican John Huntsman.

Because he doesn't know any of the issues.  I have never seen a more unprepared presidential candidate in my life.

Exactly. That's why I want him as opposed to more "professional" people like Romney or Pawlenty.

Granted, I'd prefer Paul but someone like Palin or Cain who are too uninformed to be able to do much damage, or as some would call it "governance" is the second best alternative to Paul.

Newt Gingrich. He is a disgusting human being.

He's my second choice behind (or ahead of) Ron Paul.  I don't mind his 3 marriages, as Ronald Reagan was divorced, but when he skipped town on his campaign to go to Europe just really turned me off.  I laughed when his entire staff quit.

I mean he's supposedly running to be President of the United States, not the King of Spain or the Leader of the European Union.

I don't think I could vote for someone who has had 3 divorces. Maybe one or 2, but what does a lot of divorces say about one's character?

I see what you're saying.  I don't like his 3 divorces, but they are not the first thing I look at.  I look at the issues and how they conduct themselves in the campaign.  If he dodged the campaign to go to Europe, what makes me so sure he's not going to dodge his country when they need him the most.  The 3 divorces certainly don't speak well for his character, but they are not the most critical items in my book.  I am willing to overlook some things, but certain things are too much of a red flag.  In fact, right now, I could care less his views on the major issues, because he did something that is a show-stopper in my book.  I understand the need for vacations, but not when he's trying to prove himself to the Republican voters.  For example, if I'm trying to prove myself to my employer, I'm not going to take a week long vacation to Europe just weeks after I start the job.  I'm not going anywhere for at least 90-120 days and even that's a stretch.  The American people is the President's boss as well as the boss of all of our elected officials.

Wait a minute--3 divorces? Isn't he in his third marriage right now?

Clearly the solution is to privatize presidential elections.

So, in less than four years, get excited for the 2016 MetLife Financial U Pick The Prez Extravaganza. If you tweet a picture of your completed ballot with the hashtag #ivoted, you could win a trip for two to the inauguration or an iTunes gift card.

He might be, but still 2 divorces or 3, whichever it is, is not a deal-breaker in my book, but what has come to mind is while I was ranting about his dodging the country by going to Europe, his divorces are another example of dodging responsibility.  To me, the divorces, whether 2 or 3, along with his trip to Europe make him untrustworthy in my opinion.  I'm afraid if the going got tough as President, which inevitable it will, then he would throw his hands up and resign immediately and throw this country into chaos before his Vice President has a chance to take over, or he might decide to go on a vacation to the Swiss Alps or something when this country needs him the most.

True. Gingrich running would make me 100% sure to vote third party in 2012. Not that it matters since I live in a deep blue state.

I still think that vote goes to the late-Update thread. Smiley

Romney by far though Perry (and probably Huntsman) are also unbearable. I'd vote for Obama/3rd party just to get a competent Republican in 2016.
