Well?

Personally, I sleep on a Queen bed, though I'm asking for an upgrade. My brother has a California King, and it's what I plan on getting once I'm older and on my own.

I may have forgot an option - if so, just state your size in the thread.

I don't have a bed, but I do have a mattress, it just lies on the floor. Queen sized mattress.

~5x6 ft.  Not sure what the stupid name for that size would be.

I've only ever heard them referred to as twin and full, never as single and double.

I usually use a full-size bed. My two other bedrooms have a twin and a queen, respectively, and I sleep in each on occasion.

Who invented these terms for beds? Tongue

I sleep on a single bed, that's perfectly ok for me.

Same here, I've never heard them called single or double.  I've always heard twin and full.  I sleep on full at the house, but when I sleep at my mother's it's a twin daybed style, and at my grandmother's it's a queen.

I would love to have a queen size bed in my room, but there's really not enough room without swallowing the room whole.

And it is true that they are far more comfortable, especially if not very thick or soft.

Here in Thailand I sleep in a bed which could contain two of me if necessary, so I'm going to guess double, but who knows?  The bed is included with the apartment, along with the desk and a chair.

I don't know, but there's really only enough room for me. Maybe another person but we'd be squished together the entire night. My bed at the old parents' house comfortably fits two people though.

Single. My room probably isn't big enough for anything much larger considering that I need to have my office and gallery of flags in my room.

Maybe some olds, too. Smiley

And it is true that they are far more comfortable, especially if not very thick or soft.

I agree with Opebo on this. I inherited a large futon on the floor of my grad school apartment long ago, and haven't bought anything else for myself since. These days I have a queen-sized futon on a low frame that brings it about a 14 in (36 cm) off the ground.

XL Twin.  (The width of a twin/single combined with the length of a queen.)  I could sleep on a full (i.e. double) if I needed to but I'd be diagonal on it.

I've only ever heard them referred to as twin and full, never as single and double.

Single and double are accepted terms, and a hotel is far more likely to identify a room with 2 double beds rather than 2 full beds. However, stores sell mattresses and bedding as twin or full. I did find that some stores will list frames, particularly platform beds, as double rather than full.

There's an idea.  An uncomfortable sofa that folds out into an even more uncomfortable bed.  No thanks.

Queen size, by the way.  Mine is a Restonics ultra firm SB1.  I spent about a month a few years ago looking for the perfect diamond-hard queen-size mattress and box set, and I finally found a Restonics that was perfect.  It cost an arm and a leg, but it's worth it.

There are lots of queens in this thread.

All the beds in our house are queen size.  It's really the perfect size, unless the boy watches a scary movie.  Then it gets crowded.  I have a fancy on in the master bedroom, extremely firm.  In the guest bedroom we keep a cheap one.  Soft.  But I have found that many folks like soft ones so it's okay.  And in my son's room there's a mid-price one.  Sealy posturepedic, medium-firm.  It's comfortable as well.

King-size is nice, don't get me wrong, and I like them in hotels, so long as they're very hard.  But it'd be hell moving in and out.  Even with the queen we had tremendous difficulty getting through the stairwell to the second floor.  So queen is as big as I would buy.

Touché, mon ami!

I think I had exactly the same thought about you when I read the name Nesselbush and posted.

...or maybe I'm confusing you with somebody else.
