bush.

people seem to forget that it was pretty much a tossup right up until election day.  and i do remember the (inaccurate) exit polls that were leaked on election day showing a kerry landslide...leading to an infamous proclamation from mypalfish.

Bush.

The RNC provided the boost.

Bush. It was closer than I thought it was going to be, but I was overly pessimistic by the Fall.

Kerry.

I didn't know a damn about American politics, so I just thought "this guy is such an epic failure that it just can't get reelected".

I was thinking along the same lines. Then again living in one of the few states to actually swing to the left in 2004 didn't help much.

Kerry, mainly because I was blinded by hatred of Bush, and was in a rather Pauline Kael-esque circle of people.  In retrospect Bush obviously had the advantage going into election day.

Bush if you forced me to bet and offered me even odds either way, but I was certainly still hopeful for a Kerry win.

Bush.  I had been following the polls very closely the entire year, and, for about a week before election day, I believed it would come down to Ohio, and I felt certain Bush would win.  The news reporting during the day about the exit polls left me uncertain for a little while, but when the returns started coming in, it seemed pretty obvious.

I never thought Bush would lose, but KERRY.PRES.2004 surging to 72 on Intrade by early evening had my heart a-flutter, I admit.

At 72 on election day ? Huh Is Intrade very democratic or do they just know nothing about politics ?

maybe neither or both, but the reason for the run was all of the leaked exit rumors that showed Kerry headed to a 325+EV victory with solid wins in OH, FL, etc.
