does anyone here think that Reagan might have won the hispanic vote in some states/areas? Looking at the presidential election results in some of the LA districts, he might have. The 30th district, which stretched from Maywood to Asuza and was 54% hispanic, gave Reagan 55% of the vote and the 34th, which stretched from Norwalk to West Covina was 47% Hispanic and gave Reagan 59% of the vote.

I kind of doubt Reagan won the hispanic vote in any state overall, but who knows? I can't find any detailed state-by-state exit polls from those times.
Btw it's extreamely likely that hispanic voters were the only reason Reagan didn't win those CDs you mentioned with say, sixty something percent (or more) of the vote.

I've had it on my computer for a while, so:
House vote on maintaining forced and desegregated busing (early 70's)
Green= Aye
Red= Nay
Yellow= Abstain/other
White= No data
This vote was most likely taken between 1972 and 1974, which would explain why my 1976 almanac didn't have all the data.

I'd be interested in seeing a map of the early 80's ERA vote. Data should be in either the Almanac or CQ.

What % of voters were actually Hispanic though? And the white vote in those areas would have been strongly for Reagan.

yes, I would have assumed those areas would have been populated by Walt Kowalskis back in the 80s. I wouldn't be surprised if he got 65-70 percent of the white vote in those areas.

Looking at my book, it looks as though the 30th was 48% hispanic and the 34th was 42% hispanic.

Wait, sorry, I forgot about the hispanic voters in Florida. Many were of Cuban and anti-castro, and thus backed Reagan for his stances on communism and such.

Equal Rights Amendment Vote, early 80's
Btw the boundaries for this map were drawn by Shilly.
And the color code is the same for the last map as well.

house popular vote by state 1980
Few observations:
AR, LA, and OK permitted one not to tabulate for unopposed candidates. Second, I find it interesting how Republican VA was before the rest of the south was. They had a 9-1 delegation in 81 and 82.
