Here's Manhattan, with colors for 1936

lol so many districts.

And here's Manhattan back in 1924:

I don't know if it's the fact that 1936 is unanimously Democratic or what, but it seems like that in 1924 the Democrats were actually stronger in parts of lower Manhattan.  Specifically in Districts 13 and 16.
Could this have something to do with intra-party feuds (ie Roosevelt vs. Tammany Hall)?

I don't think so, actually.  It must just be the blue contrasting with the red in 1924 to make the Democratic shades look stronger by comparison.  Wink

Fuzzy, if you still have it, and have time, I'd be interested in seeing which counties (or cities, areas, etc.) have the longest streak of being represented by one party or the other.

The book is in my university library, so on Monday I might be able to run down and look and see if I can find the answer to nclib's question.

The book is of course in my university's library, but I think they closed for the day already.

Here's the map comparing the 2000 presidential and congressional elections:

Dark red=District that voted for Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore, and elected a representative that caucused with Democrats

Red= District that voted for Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore, and elected a representative that caucused with Republicans

Dark Blue= District that voted for Republican presidential candidate G.W. Bush, and elected a representative that caucused with Republicans

Blue=  District that voted for Republican presidential candidate G.W. Bush, and elected a representative that caucused with Democrats

While I was at it, I made the 2000 presidential CD map.  Even though the atlas already has it, I thought it would be cool to add it to the thread, and to put the map template I made to extra use.  Smiley  Wink

Let's see, I've done 1932-1936, 1940, 1968, 1970, 1974-1980, 1984 and 1988 (using the template provided by Shilly), and 1992 through 2000.

And realisticidealist did a lot of stuff from the 40's and 50's.

Hmm, pretty much anything pre-1920 for the data as well as the maps.  I might go back to the university to get that big congressional book again.  lol

This is such an awesome thread - I'm not a fan of  the nondescript new title, since I went looking for these presidential election maps and didn't even recognize it even though it was stickied at the top of the page. It should say be "election result maps by congressional district" or something like that.
