Gov. Rick Perry has become one of the first state executives to sign a campaign seeking stark cuts in federal spending and a balanced budget amendment.

Perry, who is reportedly considering launching a presidential campaign later this year, becomes the fourth governor to sign the pledge along with a dozen senators and more than two dozen House lawmakers, all Republicans.

Are the other three governors who signed going to run for President, too?

Rick Perry -- consummate ambition, consummate grandstanding, and consummate failure.

Well, considering a balanced budget amendment is merely a dangerous gimmick supported by big-spending Republicans who wish to hide their record (as well as some well-meaning conservatives), it seems no surprise that Rick Perry would sign it to tout his non-existent conservative record. Perhaps instead of trying his hand in the national stage, he should try to fulfill some of his campaign promises, like securing the TX-MX border.
