So, does anyone else think Hitler should have been Person of the Century instead of Einstein?

That would be too depressing. Tongue They wouldn't have named Osama bin Laden Person of the Year in 2001 either, but they should have. As much as guys like bin Laden and Hitler deserve absolute disapprobation, naming them Persons of the Year is a testament to mankind's potential for horrifying evil as well as good, and a challenge to every man to understand how such people arise and how they might be defeated.

Ok then, do you concider "Person of the Year" an honor? the magazine says it's not an honor, but latley it sure seems like it.

I certainly don't necessarily consider it an honor - it only represents for me a title for the person who most affected life on Earth in the past year, however good or bad that effect might be. Under this schema, Zuckerberg is a good choice for 2010 - but Rudy Giuliani would never have rose to such prominence in 2001 had it not been for the actions of Osama bin Laden and therefore was a poor choice.

But wouldn't Julian Assange have been a better choice for 2010?

Sorry for the double post, but Gorby is winning 6-4. I'll vote DeGaulle just to help out the opposition.

It's hard to say. Both were very good candidates.

Great !

We've avoided the obvious ones.
My only regret: Deng should have won or at least been in the final round.
One day, I'll carve a list so that he can win something Grin.

Good result, but De Gaulle definitely shouldn't have gone so far.
