By contrast the Hume Research Group finds a very close race in NC, the Kant Research Group has Obama with a moderate lead, and the Spinoza Research Group reports that in the ultimate reality there is only one candidate.

Todd Akin is a steadfast man of conviction, lawfully elected by the good voters of Missouri to represent them in Congress and to be on the ballot for the office of Senate this fall. That a sinister cabal of coastal GOP elites is trying to force this honest man off the ballot and nullify the voice of the people in the process, is sickening and shameful. Congressman Akin loves this country, because it is the only place on God's Earth where a man can freely express his opinion, but apparently the arrogant backstabbers at the NRC and NRSC don't feel the same way.

Akin is just his Cain substitute of the week for Lief. Lief just hasn't been the same since the Cain express went off the rails, and crashed into a bevy of his female admirers.

A polling organization named after Descartes??  What was their method?  To just sit and think about it till they were indubitably certain?  Or maybe they just tried to find the tangent line of all existing polls and discovered an inflection point on the border of North Carolina?

I am rarely handed the opportunity to make a math joke, so I couldn't resist.  Jokes about philosophers, on the other hand, are a dime a dozen.

Pauline Marois will issue more language-related policies:

1) China-style internet firewall. Instead of blocking politically subversive websites, it will only permit French language websites.

2) Division of Montreal into West Montreal and East Montreal. The West is walled off from all of Quebec, except West Montrealers can use Highways 20 and 40 to travel to Canada.

3) Downtown Montreal will be divided by a concrete wall with armed guards and checkpoints.

4) The Office de la Langue Française will acquire new powers to keep East Montrealers under constant surveillance. They'll also encourage people to report their neighbours, family, and co-workers if they speak English even in private.

5) Anyone who is found to use English will be sent to language camps.

I'm a liberal and I will say that this is basically a case of "Gotcha Politics".  Clearly Congressman Akin misspoke.  I'm sure he meant to say something along the lines of "I'm dumb as s***."

Anzalone Liszt also found Mazeppa leading Les préludes 47-34, with Orpheus and Hunnenschlacht trailing far behind.

If Congress can posthumously promote George Washington to a 5-star general, can it also posthumously demote Custer back to private?

Washington was actually promoted to six stars, but I laughed.

RIP

A reminder that it won't be long before we become a planet with no living moonwalkers.

First Michael Jackson now this...

RIP, but that's what he gets for blood doping.

I hope you are flying with the angels far beyond the travel of our mortal coil to see the face of the God I long to see.

1. now responsible for the statistical margin of error and/or arbitrarily state-specific

2. happens backwards for mexicans

Actually, whether or not General of the Armies is a 6-star or a 5-star rank is a matter of some dispute.  It isn't helped by the fact that the only man ever awarded the rank while living, Pershing, used as his insignia 4 gold stars.

Well, he could have used five silver stars instead, since rank of General of the Army was yet to be created.
