The idea of someone speaking a dead language, especially, Latin (or even claiming to speak it) is inherently hilarious to me. If you don't find it so I apologise.

I personally have a great admiration for people able to speak dead languages, especially Latin.

Learning to speak a dead language seems like the very definition of a waste of time, but different strokes...

I'd say learning to speak the language spoken by the great civilizations which we are heirs of is a way to keep their legacy alive. Smiley

What you mean to say is, 'I took Latin in school.' Wink

Yes. I didn't suck at it, nor was I brilliant, but by the time I left high school I couldn't take it anymore. Tongue

I remember that as their April Fool's story one year, NPR reported about an Irish basketball phenomenon that Boston was interested in, but would only agree to sign if the team started pronouncing Celtics as Keltics and not Seltics.

No offense taken. Scott- are your "c"s hard, like "k"s or soft, like "ch"s?

Depends on the word.  Mostly hard, though.

Well, of course, I meant in general. Then you're doing it right.

The affrication of /k/'s happened when the language was still alive.

Well, this has certainly been a hilarious discussion, worthy of this thread.

Strictly speaking Latin is not a dead language. It has merely developed into different daughter languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese ...).

After discovering it was on Netflix Watch Instantly, I decided to try watching it last night to see how far I could make it into an episode. I made it only 8 minutes. It was the most repetitive mind-numbing nonsense I've ever seen. What's with Dora talking to the viewer and asking us to say things and all that? And you can stop Swiper just by saying "Swiper no swiping"? What the hell? Then the introduction to the map which was a song that was basically just him singing "I'm a map!" over and over. This is seriously the dumbest and most pointless show EVER. Horrible Cartoon.

Are you suggesting BRTD is not a child?

One thing I notice is that almost all the Democrats that I meet, don't really fit into the Democratic base at all.

We've noticed that, too.

I don't understand why this is here. Is it meant to be a preview of the iconic Winfield Series?

I prefer this without context:

I'm not sure, but I guess we'll see. He might have brain damage or something after this. He might also be an asshole.

BushOK might be called up to star in an Obama ad. "Some say the economy isn't doing well. Some say they can't find a job. Hogwash! I've been able to find a job basically every other month even after being fired countless times!"

Here's what you do. Open your phone, find her number, text her the following:

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

Then block her number, delete her from Facebook, and avoid her for the rest of your life.

Then, for girl #2, invite her over or go somewhere private, hang out like you usually do, and when the moment feels right, go for the kiss. If she kisses you back, congratulations! If she doesn't, do one of the following:

1) Run away, block her phone number, delete her from Facebook, and avoid her for the rest of your life.
2) Laugh confidently, change the subject, never talk about it again.

Follow my advice, TO THE T, and you will achieve your goals and find happiness.

Shouldn't some results be in by now?  It's past 2 in the morning in Greece.

The election is tomorrow.

Oh.  Lol sorry I'd assumed it would be today (since they normally vote on Sunday in Europe).

They do. Today is Saturday.

Everytime I start an advice thread, something from Lief always ends up in the Institute Tongue

Probably because it's Lief.
